Last time we were at the Parks (last August) was the first time I'd seen DTD. While I thought bits of it were cool (I love Sephora, the big magazine stand was great, and I really enjoyed both the Uva Bar and Ralph Brennans) I thought maybe it could do with some slightly different stores or restaurants. My ideas: a Starbucks (or something similar, specialising in coffees, etc), a music store (like the one at City Walk - somewhere my boyfriend could go and browse the DVDs, etc) and a couple of more affordable restaurants. What do you think?

I like the Spaghetti Factory idea that floated around a while back. Very affordable and filling and a place my kids will actually eat.

I also want a good coffee place. Doesn't have to be Starbucks. A Peete's/Coffee Bean/whatever would work fine for me. I'm not impressed with LaBrea Bakery's coffees.

I would add a more affordable restaurant. While I like the restaurants there, I find it hard to take a lot of my friends. We used to eat at Y Arriba because the menu was reasonable. Some place like the spaghetti factory would be great.

Escape from NY pizza (or any place that sells it by the slice)

Auntie Anne's Pretzels

A reasonablely priced Chinese Food place!

:)

I agree, a Chinese restaurant would be nice.

Naples does sell pizza by the slice, at least from the take-out window.

From memory it's kind of pricey though...to tell the truth though I've never tried it. Is it any good?

I've not had it either, but I know of people who have, and they've liked it. I did hear it was a pretty good deal - $5 or so for a slice of pizza and a soda? If that's the price, that wouldn't be too bad.

I'm still trying to talk myself into going to the restaurant proper...

You're right, that's not bad. I somehow thought it was more than that. We looked at the restaurant last time, but the lines were quite long. Maybe this time:-)

I would like to see a Planet Hollywood type themed restaraunt, an elaborately themed Disney based eatery filled with Disney memorabilia, animatronic figures (like Rainforest Cafe's "show"). Also, I second that there should be a lower cost alternative to what is currently offered. The upper level of Citywalk at Universal is a good role model. Maybe sandwhich a 2nd story "food court" between the AMC theatres and the Espn Zone.

For entertainment, a cross between the Las Vegas Gameworks (with up to date arcade attractions priced at 50 cent a pop, instead of 2-3 bucks like some Gameworks) and Citywalks Jillian's bowling experience would be great.

There is an amazing restaraunt in Salt Lake City I think called the Maya, and they perform a high dive show with real divers in the middle of the three story restaraunt. Makes for a very memorable meal.

Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor
A nice but not overly expensive buffet (I learned a long time ago one cannot use cheap inexpensive and Disney in the same sentence)
One of those entertainment complexes they still have one or two left of in Chicago, what were they called, The Disney Zone or something...?
Any place with shirtless go-go boys dancing in cages. :~D ;)

Jamba Juice, preferably nearest to the park entrances so CM's could grab one on the way into work =).

And how about a couple of resturaunts that are actually popular and somewhat affordable? Islands and Johnny Rockets come to mind...

Oh, and a Claim Jumper.

A Tower or Virgin Mega store, we need CDs - also a better book store (read broader selection) would be nice. Other than that a few more shopping venues with a bit more variety of merchandise.

Wouldn't the vacant Arriba! Arriba! building be perfect for a Cheesecake Factory. It is already themed appropriately and is the proper size. I think it would be a hit!

Shoes! Something like "O'My Soul" would be incredible - and make a LOT of sense.

I agree with the Coffee.

Sushi such as Tsunami or another "rockin'" Sushi joint.

Tower/Virgin

A bookstore like Cody's in Berkeley or Elliot Bay Books in Seattle.

A "Healthy" restaurant like The Farm at the Grove

A Banana Republic (just kidding!) but some other nice/comfort clothing store would be great - and not one with overpriced Hawaiian attire.

A Hat store?:fez:

I'll stop now.

Starbucks and Jamba Juice... and, yes, I'm thinking of the CMs here, but I don't think any guest would mind either one...
A good burger place like In & Out or maybe Johnny Rockets... something affordable... ooh, scratch that... Bob's Big Boy, like the one in Burbank... yeah!
Chinese food-- yes!
Music store... Virgin...
Oh, and a bunch of plasma screens and stuff... there is simply not enough "eye candy" in DTD and "I know" it's Orange County, but it's a little too "South Coast Plaza" for me...
Which reminds me,"am I the only person who takes real issue with the incredible WASTE of advertising/synergy/entertainment space in the World of Disney windows, currently featuring huge, not at all imaginative, and, not to mention, poorly painted cardboard cutouts????"
Okay... thanks for the thread!

;)

Going with the LA revival architecture od DD, build a new version of the Brown Derby and fill it with movie star memorabilia. Make the food resonably priced and offer a variety of styles.

They desperately need a good breakfast place that doesn't cost $20 per person.

I'll gladly second DisneyFan's vote for a Disney Quest. I had so much fun at WDW's when I went. I would have loved to go back if I had more time.

I've been saying since it opened that DTD needs more entertainment offerings.

A reasonably priced internet cafe - possibly with that Starbucks/Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.

Now I want a mocha ice blended :(

Ack! I still want the coffee places and Spaghetti Factory, but how could I have left off:

In N Out Burger
Krispy Kreme
Wahoo's
Rubio's

Now I feel better. :)

It would save me from a lot of driving while at DLR.
