On director Peter Jackson's Facebook page, he recently wrote a Note describing how he is shooting The Hobbit at 48 Frames Per Second. (http://www.facebook.com/notes/peter-jackson/48-frames-per-second/10150222861171558) In that Note, he talks how at higher frame rates movement becomes more fluid and life like, and mentions that his new King Kong attraction at Universal was shot at 60 fps as well as giving a nod to Star Tours having been a 60 fps film.
I had never heard this before, but it would make a lot of sense for a motion simulator to have smoother film to allow the visuals to sync with the movement better (I'm also wondering if Body Wars at Epcot wasn't as high a frame rate which would explain why many people who were fine on Star Tour got motion sickness from Body Wars).
Anyway, my question is, does anyone know if a) Peter Jackson's statement is correct (I did a quick Google search and the only hits were articles about Peter Jackson's Note) and b) if the new Star Tours will also be at 60 fps or if it will be the standard of 30 frames per second?
