I was bored recently and decided to enter the following URL:
www.westcot.com
Try entering it and see for yourself. I guess Disney still owns rights to the domain. Anyway, even after years have passed, I cannot help but ask, "what if" to myself. So, I stumbled upon Jim Hill's old article.
Here is a part of the article that still makes me imagine:
Your day at Westcot begins as you zoom off Interstate 5, driving straight in to one of two massive parking garages that border the reconfigured Disneyland Resort. After parking your car, you hop aboard an elevated shuttle (modeled after the automated system that Orlando International Airport uses to shuttle passengers to its outermost air terminals) which takes you quickly and quietly to Disneyland Plaza.
For the entire 5-part article: http://www.jimhillmedia.com/articles/archive.0005-1.htm
Until this day, I still can't help but imagine how happy I'd be if a park of this magnitude was right here in Anaheim. I could imagine it filled to capacity almost everyday with no annual pass offered for the first 3 years. I would be willing to pay up to $50 for a single day admission for the park described above. "Disneyland Center" seems to be much more detailed than the DTD we have today, complete with an Avalon casino replica and water surrounding the shops.
In the meantime, I've been searching the internet for any rendering or concept print that details what Westcot could have looked like. So far, I've only been able to download some low-resolution images and 1 hi-res map of the entire resort. Does anyone know of a link that contains more artwork?
I guess we could always call it "The Best Park Disney Never Built." :(
