Walking along in CA, we saw a guy being arrested. No idea what happened, but it was amazing to see that CA security and Anaheim PD were there to take care of the situation in full force. Anyone know what was going on?

I snapped a picture with my point&shoot, so it's not a great photo or anything, but good enough. I cannot post it here because this is my first post to this forum.

Geeze, can't a person even get arrested anymore without someone taking a picture and wanting to post it all over the internet?

That must be quite a sight to see someone getting arrested in the park. In 2009, on our way back to the Disneyland Hotel, my mom, brother, and I got to see Anaheim PD take down a troublesome drunk guy outside the ESPN Zone at Downtown Disney and slap the cuffs on him. But, that's what you get when you serve alcohol.

Not everyone who drinks gets drunk or arrested.

Increases the chances of drunken rowdiness, though, which is something you shouldn't have to worry about at the Happiest Place on Earth.

That's what you get for being a moron in public. Maybe they will behave themselves next time.:p

that's actually across the Esplanade - Disneyland :-D. DCA's motto is... umm... gee. I forgot.. but maybe a new one will come with the new themes...

It is surprising to see an arrest in the guest public viewing area. I thought they'd usually take someone backstage and then APD would come and officially arrest them. Maybe they could not move the suspect. Maybe it was alcohol. WHo knows - something forced them to stay in the public area...

or, maybe the policies have changed.. hmmm...

Post it on Flickr and then share the link!

You know you've been at the parks too often when you get excited at the thought of an arrest!

I think the most photos we've ever taken of one single thing/event were of a couple of obnoxious drunks getting bounced out of Epcot. Ooh, their wives were MAD at those guys (the husbands, not security!). Security was smooth and impressive; kind of the darker version of fireworks crowd control. :0

Years ago I saw someone in handcuffs being escorted by security on Main Street. What was funny was that while there was security on either side of the guy, Brer Bear and Baloo were on either side of the security. The whole little group walked down Main Street together.

Still can't post a url. Here is the url with added spaces:

At first it looked like a medical emergency because the guy was on the ground and it appeared that a mob of uniforms were hovering over him, and plenty of security were keeping the crowd away and redirecting foot traffic. After all, it was a very hot day. Then they sat him up and he was obviously in cuffs and spitting mad. That's when I decided this was entertainment worthy of a photo! Ha Ha!

3 uniformed security, 3 plain clothes security, and 3 management. Nice coverage.

There were more, I zoomed in.

Whatever happened, glad it was taken care of. Nice to know security is this good!

here is the pictureI like the woman in the beige blazer doing the "move on, nothing to see here" gestures.

My guess is that it involved more than just being drunk and obnoxious if APD was involved. Do they do a policy blotter in the paper? It might show up there.

I was there that day and saw a little bit of the aftermath. APD was talking to a woman over by the Tortilla Factory.

I was wondering what APD was doing in the park. Now I know.

The woman in the blazer directing traffic was Theme Park 1 that day, the stage manager for both parks. The gentleman in the green shirt was a Guest who stepped in to write a statement. The woman in the orange blazer was the security manager on duty. She's one of the sharpest people working for the resort right now. Bald guy in the white dress shirt (facing away from the camera) is a World of Color lead. He was pushed by the Guest who was arrested. No need to explain the uniformed APD officers. [Another man in the picture] is plainclothes APD. He was the target of the first punch thrown by the Guest. He quickly incapacitated the guy, and the rest of the security Cast Members and Anaheim officers were called to assist in arresting the offender.

I was working in that exact area that day and followed the situation from beginning to end. I was walking to my first break and didn't even get to take it! :( Rest assured this guy is locked up. Charges ranged from assaulting an officer, resisting, damaging/destroying police property (the window of a police cruiser), and, potentially child abuse charges. It was a mess.

Unfortunately, security was unable to take the man backstage before it escalated into violence, so many Guests were witness to this. Response time for Disney security from the time I contacted security control was about 45 seconds to a minute. Anaheim PD followed very shortly thereafter. We should feel incredibly safe now, knowing how fast help can respond when it's needed. I know I do!

Wow, thanks for the inside scoop!

Child abuse? What happened there?

Swinging on a cop? He's lucky he is not in the hospital. I dont get the big deal about "it happened on stage"...so what? This guy attacked a cop, he is going to get a response that he might not like... on stage, off stage, wherever.

I don't want to let in too much, since it involves an innocent child, and the details are disturbing, but one of my fellow CMs saw the first issue moments before the situation got really hairy. Essentially, the guy was roughing up his kid (aged between 6 and 8), and taunting him. Really sick stuff.

My issue with it being on stage is that not only was his son standing right there watching, but countless other children were around. No young person should see that. The profanities were flying in high numbers as well. Security was trying very hard to get him calmed down and backstage, and we were standing around directing Guest flow trying to coax it out of the main parade route, to no avail.

But, you're right; he's lucky they didn't do more damage to him. He was VERY driven to escape the hold they had him in. I'd speculate some drug abuse (alcohol or otherwise) was part of this guy's mood issue. He was erratic and up-and-down in mood. Plus, he destroyed the window of a police cruiser with his fist. I imagine that requires some strength not normally present in a guy his size. (Read: he was not very big or intimidating by usual standards.)

If the gentleman in question is a plainclothes officer, might it not be a good idea to blur his face in the photo or remove the photo? I know it's the internet and the cat is out of the bag, but it's not cool to identify a plainclothes officer in a pulic forum like that.

I've removed the identifying description of the plainclothes officer from the posts above. He was onstage and so the photo is fair game, but I agree that it's probably best not to specifically point him out.
