Since it would be impossible to fall inside the ride itself, I am betting he fell in queue. It is two levels. I did not see anything on the news but just the tweet.

Yep, he had been drinking, and fell "over the railing" from the second floor to the lower floor. Here is the article. (http://www.ktla.com/news/landing/ktla-tower-of-terror-accident,0,1571028.story)

This is all the info I could find, Al Lutz has not posted anything yet, I'm sure by tomorrow he'll tell us more.

The You tube link is not about the ToT fall. You posted a Sac Bee link-do you live in Sacramento too?

I would think you'd have to be pretty drunk to do something so stupid, but perhaps this is just natural selection working its magic.

My first thought was Glowfest too, but they can get out of it (kinda) in the fact that the pathway between ToT and Glowfest will be closed off (because of Red Car construction) in the next week, meaning you have to walk all the way from Hollywood, through bugs land and into ToT, hopefully now they will be on the look and stop all drunks from going on this ride.

From Malcon10t's link (emphasis mine)
when he stepped over a rail and fell, landing 20 to 25 feet below.
Natural selection at work

While I'm sorry that he got hurt, he clearly is at fault...it's not like he was leaning against a railing and it gave way! This moron will probably sue Disney too...

I must say I hate when I get the library that takes you up the stairs afterwards. It's just that bit more work when you're tired. :)

The guy's an idiot, but why blame GlowFest? There's no indication that had anything to do with it. You can get beer elsewhere in the park, and there are numerous restaurants and lounges in Downtown Disney where you can get alcohol and then walk right back into DCA.

Haha! I had the same thought! You KNOW the GlowFest haters are going to think it had something to do with it.

The interesting thing to me was that the article said he was 20--the last time I looked the legal drinking age in California was 21; so where did he (illegally) get alcohol? I can't imagine he wasn't carded--shoot--they card me at DLR each and every time (and I'm 53).

Wow, I totally missed that! I wonder if they're going to investigate that part.

Here is a picture of the railing from the second story, as you can see its not too easy to fall over, you would need to be trying to get over it.

I head he joked with his friends before he fell "wouldn't it be funny if I fell...". I guess it wasn't very funny? Also he was either sitting on the rail or actually climbed over it.

This is the prepared statement released by the Disneyland Resort in response to inquiries about the accident,

"Last night a 20-year-old male guest fell in the queue line at the Tower of Terror attraction at Disney California Adventure. The guest was standing in line with friends on a second-floor platform when he climbed over a barrier to the area below and lost his balance and fell approximately 25 feet. The guest was transported by ambulance to the hospital."

There are a million ways he could've gotten drunk that doesn't involve Disney. Anaheim PD will probably investigate first and if he did get the alcohol at DCA (and not by someone else buying it for him) then Disney will get involved. As much as I've seen Disney card people, I doubt someone in DCA goofed.

Sgt. Rick Martinez from the Anaheim PD told me that they "have not yet determined if alcohol was a factor," in the incident, and said it looks like it was "just an accident." There may be more information released later today once the official report is filed.

If he's underage, alcohol doesn't have to be a "factor in the accident" for that to still be an issue.
