Now that they have started to incrementally creep the Resort AP price up to cover DCA's crack, I would like to see a Disneyland Only Annual Pass again at the old price!

I don't want to pay for DCA if I buy a new AP someday (should the restoration efforts continue at DL).

I thik you're going to see the same thing at the DLR as you see at WDW. The annual pass is for the whole resort at WDW. There is no option to take single parks (and it also costs almost $400/yr).

So, I wouldn't hold your breath to see a DL-only AP. I would expect the price to continue to go up, especially if, as they keep promising, the tourist travel increases as the economy improves, making the DLR a tourist mecca (or so the story goes).

I dont see them developing seperate APs either, but it's really hard to compare the two AP-programs. WDW does not rely on the AP program nearly as much as DL does.

I for one like having DCA as part of my AP. What else would i do when disneyland gets too crowded?

Exactly! And you can't get a martini at Disneyland. See, DCA is good for something...

But, you know... people might start to get really bored with DCA over the next few years (even with the minor crowding), as it just doesn't have much in the the repeat or attractive hang-out departments (two of the reasons I think Disneyland has such appeal).

If they keep raising the price to cover both parks, won't alot of non-hardcore types simply drop the pass? I think a Disneyland only pass is the only way to retain the whole range of AP consumers. Many just go to DCA because "they get it free". Once it's obvious that it's no longer free, the whole system starts to collapse on itself. Tower of Terror won't change that.

Florida's economics, based mostly on high roller weeklong out of towners, is totally different from the local day trippers who dig Walt - - much of DL's following.

Go to the beach or a movie or a nightclub or the desert or the mountains or golfing or bowling or the mall?

>>Exactly! And you can't get a martini at Disneyland. See, DCA is good for something...<<

Downtown Disney and the hotels all have bars right outside the gate. Who needs DCA to get drunk? (I miss the magic Monorail ride to DL Hotel to get booze... and Sgt Preston's!). Catal's outdoor bar is very nice, as is the Lost Bar (though they could use some cool Peter Pan memorabilia to decorate those bare walls).

Also, you could relax in the Grand Californian Hotel lobby. :)

I have no idea how much they are raising their price by, but I really doubt that all the local Disneyphiles will drop their pass. Especially with the improvements that they are rapidly attempting to make at DL (the painting, the carousel, IASW, return of the subs.....). I live in Phoenix - a 5 to 6 hour drive from DL, and we have annuals for taking 2 3 or 4 days trips/year and a couple of one nighters. We do this because we like DL and it's cheaper than buying tickets each and every time. Are you simply going to stop going? I doubt it.

Be honest - DL would have to deteriorate a lot farther than it has for you to give up the APs, and with the changes in management that most likely is not going to happen.[

Up $25. so far.

All or none is not the issue - - The question is do they need tiers to keep a majority of APers as prices climb? You know they eventually want that $100 difference back. Many Disneyland and Walt Disney fans just don't like DCA, and its not fair to burden them with it economically.

>>Especially with the improvements that they are rapidly attempting to make at DL (the painting, the carousel, IASW, return of the subs.....). <<

A restoration of Tomorrowland's World on the Move to gleaming white grooviness, a spruced up Tiki Room and other delights will have to transpire as well. But these things should always have been in the budget.

I already gave up my AP after I saw Bug Land.

I am APless for the first time since they originally offered them back in the 80's. I have to put my money where my mouth (and finger) is.

I want to renew, but likely not until the Subs are confirmed, and then I don't want to support DCA (or see it anymore, since it makes me cranky). So I may just pay specifically for DL when I want to go, so DCA does not get that cash on the ever critical spreadsheets. I want more improvements in DL itself, not for people to tell me they just built Bugs Land, so Pooh has to suck. I don't see or support the connection if I pay separately.

Well, Merlinjones, I compliment you on acting on your convictions. You are pretty hard core, though, and while you are making a stand, I doubt that most are with you. I mean, if my family has annuals and we are a 5-6 hour drive away, don't you think most locals will keep theirs?

Who knows? But I am sure that there are more people who would buy Disneyland Only AP's at a reduced rate. For us, DCA is not worth supporting, but Disneyland is.

And money is getting harder to come by for all...

I wish they hada step up form the premium pass..I would be happy to pay more for a super duper platinum vip pass..it would have better discounts, unlimited fast pass or front of the line pass or something....I for one would love it!!:D

Oh, my Lord! What happens when everyone in the park has a front of the line pass? Do they then introduce a "front of the front of the line super modified plantinum double plus good AP"?

I think making "tiers" of DL guests is not a good plan. I think it's already bad enough when "stars" pay for that escorted around go to the front crap. I once saw Cher there with an entourage of about 8 CMs, and upon asking another CM about it they said "It costs big bucks". ANyone know how much? Just curious.

well they have two tiers of the AP now, and it used to be more seperated within the tiers, since the higher tier used to be $200 more...but now since they have lowered the price, most everyone has the higher tier pass...I just want to be higher again..haha!! Maybe a No-Kid pass, where I can shoot through food lines and bathroom lines, since I know what I want..and what I have to do..haha!!!

The higher tiered pass only gives you add'l discounts, right? And no block out dates? It really does nothing to "separate" you from the others at DL at the same time.

But it's not free anymore...

The original AP price difference between Disneyland only and w/DCA was $100., so they scrapped that when it flopped and gave both to us for the same price. But currently, the combined pass costs $25. more than it did last year - - which is a bigger jump than they would likely have made with a DL only pass. So new APs are paying more for DCA now. In a few years it will match the $100. they wanted all along.

I say let you and others who enjoy it have the double pass for $225. and let those of us who wish to forgo DCA have Dl for $200., as it was.

$25 won't save DCA anyway, but it would make me feel better about the choice.

And I should have to charge them for the bad taste on display at DCA. My eyes...!

I NEED my DCA AP-add-on. Going through DCA is the shortest route between my relaxing afternoon in the Grand Cal Lobby back to Disneyland.

Before DCA a 1 park PREMIUM was $199

After DCA a 1 park PREMIUM was $199 and a 2 park premium was $299.

NOW a 2 park premium is $225. It WAS $199, and was increased as well as the price of one day tickets. Actually a little more, but the PREMIUM AP remained at $199 for several years.

We are still basically getting 2 parks for the price of one. I have a very *strong* feeling that if DCA was never built the price of the 1 park PREMIUM AP would still be $225.

Like I said, it's up $25., one quarter of the way to the price they wanted/expected.

Let's chant:

Hey, okay... don't make us pay for DCA!

Actually, I might pay them more for a DL only pass that excludes DCA - - if they would restore old DL rides instead with the extra $...

umm.....

If you had bothered to read my entire thread and not just the part you wanted to suit your argument you would have seen that I stated that the PAP had remained $199 for several years and was increased at the time as the 1-day admission was increased.

I ALSO said that I believe the PAP would be $225 if DCA had never been built.

Please DO NOT quote me out of context anymore!

Okay.

Now it costs $25. more.

Hey, hey-hey... don't make us pay for DCA!
