I know about the Disney Gallery Dessert thing for Fantasmic, but it seems you have to be lucky to get these, so in the alternative what would you recommend as a good viewing spot for Fantasmic! and the DL fireworks. This is my first time to DL (7/30 to 8/4/03) so I'm totally clueless about the layout. TIA:D

You don't have to be lucky to get the reserved seating. Call 30 days in advance and make reservations.

But, if you don't want to spend the extra $45 a head, bring a blanket and camp out by the river for a few hours. Those are the best spots, right by the Rivers of America, along the water. But they fill up pretty fast. You usually have to be there about 3 hours before the show to get the best spots.

Fireworks, there are a bunch of good options. The most spectacular is Main Street. Some people have their favorit spots, but almost anywhere along the street is good. Another good spot is at the Rivers of America. If you get yourself a good seat for Fantsamic!, just stay put after the show, you get a very good view. If up close and personal is what you want, then in front of Small World is a good spot. You can't hear the soundtrack, but you are as close as you can get to the launch site. One spot that I like is actually the Space Mountain queue. There is a large empty terrace upstairs that you walk across while heading into the Space Mountain building. If you stop along the rail (by the search lights), there is a really good view. Again, no soundtrack, but it has the twin benefits of the Matterhorn being right there (really nifty to see the 'works behing the Matterhorn) and lack of crowds.

When does Fantasmic show? I'm going 5/5-10 and it's not on the Disney website schedule. Is it just a summer show?
Thanks!

Early May might be cutting it close. The River is currently under rehab. Apparantly they have begun refilling it, which bodes well for it reopening sometime this month, but word on the street is that plans for a Pirates of the Carribean Movie premier event at Disneyland will delay the return of Fantasmic for another month or so.

I asked just this question.....about five minutes before Fantasmic, and the CM I asked says, "Premium Priority Seating......" I started laughing, and he says, "Which is right over here." And he escorted me and my four year old to the BEST spot! :D I had no reservations, nothing, just a bit of that Disney Magic that occasionally happens. It was the first time that my daughter and I had seen Fantasmic all the way through! Couldn't get much better.

Fireworks though? I like standing near the Plaza Inn. But that's just me. And 5000 other people. ;)

There's a MousePad Universal Hand Symbol for the best Fantasmic! viewing spot. You point down with your index finger tracing an imaginary circle. It means, the manhole cover.

Thanks for all your replies, you're a great bunch. Stinkerbell, you mentioned you got the BEST spot but you didn't say the location??;)

Wen Erin and I were down last July, we got what we thought had to be the best seats in the house every night, without camping out.

We strolled casually from the hub after the fireworks, and found a place for the two of us three to five rows back from the riverfront, just about center. It may be that with just two of us, not that much space was required, but there was a spot all three nights!

We both loved being this close to the action, and I can't imagine the desert viewing being any better - but then, I generally avoid balcony seating in any theatre.

see you at the zoo,

ron

Stinkerbell, you mentioned you got the BEST spot but you didn't say the location??;) Sorry.....;) It was to the left of the crowd, facing the show, right up front. Actually, I guess by the time he got us seated, it was pretty much in front of the middle float. We had just come from Splash Mountain and were planning to watch it, just not in a good location, as I was unwilling to A. Wait or B. Put down a blanket and wait, until Mr. Super Cast Member was sweet enough to seat us right up front! It was a great place to see it for the very first time.

(I usually skip some shows to go on rides........and then the times I wanted to see Fantasmic....it was being refurbished or whatever.)

I also hear the manhole location is a popular one.......;)
