Did anyone else see the new DCA ad with the "rave" reviews from entertainment sources? Two from the Boston Herald, One online news source, one from the Pacific Northwest and another that looked like it was from Washington, D.C. No local quotes.

Reminds me of a Simpsons quote:

Homer: Every time I learn something new, it pushes something old out of my brain. Remember that time I took wine making lessons and forgot how to drive??
Marge: You were Drunk!!!

It's the Anti-Walt school of marketing technique.

I agree that this was their best ad yet (aside from the BOGUS reviews) The music and aerial shots over the Hollywood Backlot, Grizzly Mountain, and a night-shot of Paradise Pier made the park look very Disney-like.

They should air more commercials like this one as opposed to the ones that give the impression that the park is just one big carnival.

Having spent most of my adult life in the advertising biz, I seem to remember a prevailing premise that became known as Truth In Advertising...not for any bogus legal reasons either...but if you advertise a Duck but you have a Monkey, the consumer will arrive to find a Monkey rather than a Duck. Thus the ridiculous ad campaign to 'lure' kids had to flop...the original misleading campaign that presented Disney characters had to fail etc. etc.
They seem to have been stumbling through Stupid 101.
Maybe this ad series will be the right one.
Then there is always the case of the public still wanting the Duck and forgoing the Monkey no matter what is on the tube.

I liked the ad - thought it was very glossy and slick, but the quotations really put me off.

"It's everything you expect from Disney...." Etc., etc.

It still feels like desperation to me - please go to the new park, please, puhleeeeeeese.

BF's reaction amused me - "I wanna go"
Me - "Well, yeah, I want to go too (we haven't been yet for financial reasons)."
BF - "How big is it?"
Me - About half the size of Disneyland
BF - "For the SAME PRICE!"
Me - Yup.
BF - And you can't park-hop?
Me - Not unless you have an AP or a multi-day ticket.
BF - *censored* (Was along the lines of No Way)

There you go...the slick advertising can't fix the value problem. I guess we'll see what happens.

Saw the ad yesterday. A good ad in my opinion. Not sure about the quotes, one of them appeared to be from someone from an organization called "The People." This did not appear to be "People" Magazine which is a well known publication, but rather "The People" which sounds like a socialist workers paper. Any more concrete facts on who the quotes were from, other than the Boston Herald and E Online, I hadn't heard of any of the publications quoted.
