If you ask me DCA fails just because no one knows what it is. Now wait here, I live in Chicago and everyday I see something on tv for WDW. But i have never seen something for DCA, if they would tell people what DCA is about the people would come to it.... hello I am willing to go to DCA, if somebody would advertise in Chicago and other parts of the Country people will would come. Now for the way things are run at DCA that is there problems... (I know what DCA is, but only because of Mouse Planet.)

That definately is a problem. In Minnesota, we have had barely any advertisements for DCA. But we still get our full page section (actually it is an advertisement) titled "Walt Disney World Vacations" in the Star Tribune. You would think that they would be trying to push DCA more?????

Maybe they don't advertise because they know how infuriated people would be after traveling all the way from the East Coast to see this pathetic little park. They're already dealing with hundreds of locals who daily want their money back. Believe me, if you traveled cross-country to see this thing, you would be more than a little angry.

I would be very happy if i flew across country to see DCA. Not everyone is disappointed with the park.

>>>If you ask me DCA fails just because no one knows what it is.<<<

Around my area (Central NC), they don't care either. In fact, I have ran into more people that have cared about TDS than DCA. The "big thing" that starts conversations is usually IOA.

>>>if i flew across country to see DCA<<<

It would only be because I was knocked upside the head and confused it for Disney Sea. ;)

DCA was built to bring the different parts of California to the tourist who doesn't realize that CA is a LONG state! with alot of parts that most people don't think of it's not just beaches and palm trees, good concept i thought EXCEPT the majority of tha anaheim business at Even disney land seems to be locals , good or bad idea do you think to up advertising to the supposed "target group" anyways??

I think it was built because tourists DO realize California is a long state. DCA is for visitors who have a limit on the time/money they want/can spend on a trip to an exotic destination - California.

The same concept applies to some of the new Las Vegas casinos. You (sorta) get the feeling of having visited Venice without leaving the confines of the casino. In any case, it's a lot less expensive - unless you lose big - and a lot closer. Probably, an Italian is left aghast at what passes for "real".

Not everyone is disappointed with the park. No not everyone. Just a sweeping majority. At least that's what the surveys say.

DCA is for visitors who have a limit on the time/money they want/can spend on a trip to an exotic destination - California. Is this park even about California??? Aside from the Hollywood area, every other aspect of the park could belong in another state. Don't most states have carnivals, mountains/rivers, airfields, etc. ? As a California native, I didn't feel for one moment like I was experiencing anything particular to California. With some new signage and re-paints this could be Disney's Oregon Adventure, North Carolina Adventure, Maine Adventure, etc... The park's a fraud.

I think WDI has overthrown the concept of making it historic and realistic (ie vidoes) and just decided to make it a Disney version of California with unhistoric rides ad such (if you understand that)

Come On!!! D.C.A. is not that bad! It does have its problems, but be grateful! At least we do have 2 parks!

Uh!

I wasn't complaining, DisneylandKid, I LOVE DCA!!! I love the new Disneyland Resort. I love what they did, I was just saying that they dropped the historic CA in favor of a Disney version of CA (which I love a lot more)

California is the one state that has ALL theose things theres the concepts!
Many leaps in aviation were made from california (condor flats)
the obvious entertainment stuff (hollywood pictures backlot)
and the majority of the nations fruits and veggies...come from...yup you guessed it California.

Briarose710 - If you think California is the ONE state with farms, airfields, and mountains, you've got to get out and do some traveling...

The point is... the DCA theme is incredibly weak, almost to the point of there being no theme at all.

Why should any consumer be "grateful" for inferior product? I'd rather have had a decent Tomorrowland than DCA any day.

Which surveys are you citing here? My local paper did an article several months ago on The Disneyland Resort and quoted some travel agency statistic data. Apparently some travel agencies conduct surveys of their customers after they return from trips the agency has booked. They questioned their Disneyland Resort customers about "overall satisfaction" for both Disneyland and DCA. Roughly 90% were satified with their trip to Disneyland and roughly 25% were satisfied with their trip to DCA.

The DCA discussion will never end!! Ha Ha

I went with my family in April, paid full price.

As a parent/adult, I didn't feel that value was delivered for price. Despite its deficiencies, I would much rather spend a day at DCA than at Paramounts Great America in Nor Cal where I live!

With discounting, the park is somewhat a better value. You can't compare the park to Disneyland - it will never ever match DL.

Now the interesting thing was that my kids (ages 10 & 13) LOVED the park. They had a great time. Want to go back. As a parent, it is very satisfying to take my kids to a place that they enjoy. They have also recently been to Universal Studios and Knotts Berry Farm and they liked DCA on a par or somewhat more than these two parks. So probably if I gave them a choice the next time we are in So Cal they would choose to go to DCA rather than an excursion to one of the other two parks.

The park will grow and develop a personality just like DL did and I'm sure when my kids are adults they will have many fond memories and traditions at both DL and DCA.

I'm supposed to be GRATEFUL? I never asked for 2 parks, never wanted 2 parks and don't want a third. I also didn't need or ask for Downtown Disney. If I want high-end shops and expensive themed restaurants, I'll go to the friggin' Beverly Center. If I were interested in thrill rides, I'd go to Magic Mountain or Knotts. But I don't. I go to Disneyland BECAUSE ITS DISNEYLAND.

I'm not grateful that Eisner is attempting to mold Anaheim into Orlando. I'm just not.

All I ever needed or wanted was Disneyland, the park that Walt built. All I need and want right now is for them to bring it back to its former glory. They never will though, because now there's a whole "resort" hanging off its tit by its sharp little teeth.

I like the new resort. It has its flaws and problems, but can grow to be a great tourist destination. The hotels are all wonderful places to stay, and Downtown Disney lives up to all of its potential. It's an interesting place to shop and dine and is a lot of fun (with no cost) and get away for a few hours. DL will continue to be ther best (and it will always be), and DCA needs a few major tweaks and in 5-10 years the park will be a GREAT place to visit. Everybody expects so much from the park even though it JUST opened. Epcot and Disney Studios both sucked when they first opened, but eventually the public grew to like it. Give DCA a chance!!! On the subject of the third park, I think they should use that money to rennovate the parks and give DL a better Tommorowland and DCA more attractions. Overall, the resort will work... but the 3rd park should be held off for 5-10 years so things can get worked out.

>>>Epcot and Disney Studios both sucked<<<

If by "sucked" you mean it was a half park, you are wrong. Epcot was a full days fun right out of the gate, and they even added several attractions the folllowing year. It should also be noted that most of the attractions on opening day at Epcot were E-tickets for their time.

However, if you just didn't like the park, that is a different story altogether, and your opinion.

You're right... Epcot was a good park on opening day. It was the last of Walt's park visions (right?) As for Disney Studios, that needed a lot of help on opening day...they tried to make a Disney universal Studios, but it didnt work out as they hoped. But look how it's grown!!! DCA will soon be as popular as that
