This almost forgotten interactive attraction is best played at night, when the Boot Hill town goes from Daylight to Nightlight..

My sons and I love doing this at night, but don't wait until its so dark you can't see the sights on the rifles. Otherwise you won't hit a thing.

I haven't played this since I was a kid. For several years now, I keep saying I won't leave the park until I've played it, but somehow I always forget! I'll even walk by on my way to Big Thunder and say, "There it is. Need to stop and do that later." And yet I always never get around to it.

Next visit, for sure. (Then again, I say that all the time. :D )

I'm so glad somebody mentioned the shooting gallery. I have always loved it. But I think it's one of those attractions that really needs an update. I would love to have some new targets with new reactions to experience.

I think your suggestion of playing at night is spot on. Also, when you ever play do you "call your shots"? When DH and I were dating he couldn't understand how the SG could be fun. I stood there and called to him, "Rider in the Sky, 1 shot." Then I had to make it and he had to do it also. Then it was his turn and he could call. I think it puts the SG on a whole new competitive level that way.

Enjoy!

Yeah! I hadn't bothered to check it out until I saw an HDR pic of the Shooting
Gallery in another thread

and decided when we got to DLA this Last Week June 5-9th I'd check it out and take some pics as well and then post them in a thread to try to drum up interest, so the powers that be would not remove the shooting gallery. It is something that needs to stay in Frontierland..

I can't see your picture on your smugmug :( it is asking me for a password. ?

I was very surprised to see my picture on here! Like, really "wow'd" Even more happy that a picture of mine inspired you to go take pictures! That is really awesome. Would have loved if you gave credit to the photo though as there is a creative commons license attached. :(

The SG does need a little TLC. I could see somebody easily getting frustrated with the guns and not being able to see the targets. I'm sure there is an updated version they could do without losing the rustic nature of the attraction.
