From my MousePlanet Blog (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/blog.php?u=17)
Food trucks are a huge trend in Southern California and elsewhere right now, with dozens of trucks making the rounds of Los Angeles and Orange counties. Far from the stereotypical "roach coach" of your local construction site, these mobile kitchens serve up creative fare to hungry foodies, everything from gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches to Korean tacos, french fries to French crepes. Most are plucky startups, but some name-brand restauranteurs are entering the market.
At the media event for the opening of Disney's California Food & Wine Festival in April, OC Family columnist Suz Broughton (http://www.ocfamily.com/blogs.aspx?bt=ALIVE%20IN%20WONDERLAND&fbt=y) and I were discussing the food truck craze, and told our Disney hosts that we both thought DCA would be a great place to showcase some of the local trucks. I don't know if our suggestions had anything to do with this, but tonight the operators of the Louks to Go (http://www.loukstogo.com/index.html) truck announced via their Twitter account (http://twitter.com/LouksToGo) that they will be serving at Disney California Adventure next Friday night from 6pm until park closing. They said that they'd be set up outside the Hyperion Theater in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot, which tells me that they're likely part of the "special food offerings" mentioned in the Glow Fest presentation given to media last week.
Louks to Go offers Greek food and fresh-made loukomades, mini doughnut balls with honey or other toppings. We don't have any additional details about their appearance at DCA, nor do we know if this is a one-time thing or if other food trucks will be invited to participate on other nights. We'll keep you posted as we learn more.
