Since Disney bought Marvel and they are now selling Marvel (Hulk, Iron Man, X-Men) at the Disney Stores, does anyone know if we will be seeing the characters walking around the park anytime soon...?

I think personally that for me will take ALOT of getting used to...
Anyone else?

I think for the most part, they don't really fit in, but in any case, I doubt they'd even be able to for a while, even if they wanted to. All the deals that were already in place with places like Universal are still intact.

I don't think I will ever get used to idea. :| I'm doing my best to ignore the thought.

Also, I can only hope that merchandise will be kept a bit separate from the other stuff, like on a couple racks off in the corner of the Emporium. And I don't wish to see Mickey, Donald and Spider-Man together on my shirt or mug, thank you very much.

shudder at the thought - Islands of Disney's California Adventure
Spiderman swings from the Golden Zephyr; Hulk smashes through the Tower of Terror, ...

(a knock on Universal's Islands of Adventure in Orlando - featured marvel characters)

When we went to Universal a few weeks ago, the Marvel characters were not in the park anywhere. The store that used to be ALL Marvel and had a huge Hulk sticking out the side of the building, is no longer just Marvel either, and Hulk is gone. The picture is from last year. The painting behind him is still there but he is gone.
As far as having them in Disneyland, that would be really weird.

Maybe they can be the new princess escorts! Hmmm, let's see, with Hulk's green complexion, she might go well with Tiana's green dress. Spiderman's red could go with Belle's red Christmas outfit. Or would Belle go better with Iron Man? But if Iron Man came in the form of Tony Stark, he should escort Cinderella in her beautiful blue ball gown.

Come Halloween time, I could see Goofy in an Iron Man costume! That would make a good short!

Oh, and don't forget the Battle Royale...

Remember, Disney also owns the Muppets and has a deal with Lucas with Indiana Jones and Star Wars but I have yet to see Darth Vader walking down Main Street on your average day.

Disney seems to be pretty good about knowing where things belong and keeping them in their place. There's a possibility that Spider-Man may show up at a meet and greet in, say, Hollywood Pictures Backlot, but I find it unlikely that we'd see Marvel characters anywhere else in the parks.

Star Wars has that Star Wars Training Academy and that is popular. Around there I see Darth Vader and the Storm Troopers always walkin' around. I can definitely see them doing something with Spider Man as popular as he is. I don't know exactly where he would fit into, and I honestly don't like the idea of Marvel being there but it would be a good ploy to lure more people in -especially the bigger boys. I also don't think the bigger boys have alot of characters they 'follow'. Buzz and Cars are big sellers. But other than that who else do they advertise for the boys?

I, for one, have been longing to see the Princes come out of hiding.
...but I'd stand in line to meet Johnny Storm/The Human Torch ;)

How do they deal with face characters from live-action movies? Like...it'll be pretty obvious it's not Tobey McGuire or Hugh Jackman in the parks...

Yeah!
And more, we can mix and match other eras and brands:

Darth Vader vs. Maleficient

Seven Dwarfs vs. seven Ewoks

Hercules vs. The Hulk

Robin Hood vs. Green Arrow

Jiminy Cricket vs. Flik

:)

I imagine Spidey would wear his suit with his face covered, but for characters like Wolverine they would be treated the same way they did Jack Sparrow, Darth Maul, etc. I assume- lots of makeup and costume.

Well - they have tried the Prince Caspian pre-parade, the Enchanted pre-parade, etc. Others have come and gone. They have had "generic looking" folks in place but it has been for a limited basis and not a regular character. The only face characters from a live action film that have remained in Disneyland have been Mary Poppins and Burt.

As some others have posted - It would work better at DCAs hollywood backlot now - but when the retheming gets back to 1920s hollywood I wonder if it woudl still work. Again - it's an alternate brand that just might have to stay at the other park. I guess the best current example is HS Musical. EXTREMELY popular - but they placed it at DCA. Probably to attract more people there - but you could say that about Marvel as well. The whole shift of DCA to Walt's early years in California will be an interesting dilemma for adding these brands.

Maybe they need to add an "Everything Else Land"... :p

I have to agree I have an older boy and even though he loves Disneyland and Disney itself, there are not alot of "characters" that attract him and his age group, they have the princess faire and shops as well as Tinks new area that are definately aimed towards the girls there isn't much for the pre-teens, I would definately love to see them do something more for the pre-teen age, as much as we love tomorrowland that to is very limiting so bringing in the Marvel characters in some way shape or form would be nice... I just don't know how unless it was in DCA......even if it means giving them there own area of the park I can't beleive that it would not work like bringing in Star Wars and Indiana Jones....

according to the OC Register - Marvel characters will be slow in coming to the theme parks...

Which is funny do to Marvel also has a Hercules. The Hercules that Disney used should have been Herakles which would have matched the rest of the Greek pantheon from the movie vice the Roman name that was used.

I would love to see them have their own themed area of DCA. That would work.

However, if I ever see Spiderman scaling the Matterhorn, he'd better be wearing lederhosen.

maybe when they are done with the TS parking lot they can build a fan-boy them park with all of the heroes and villains there from Marvel.

Actually if they theme it right and make it so people want to be there it won't IMHO be that big of a deal. No one really thinks twice about Star Wars in DL with the Jedi training or Star Tours. If they plopped Spiderman down in the middle of DL and kids were lining up ten deep to have their picture taken with him, would you tell your kid sorry he's not Disney and not let him? Of course after a few years (if it happened) they will become commonplace and no one will think its weird. But I agree that DCA would be the better place to host them.

If DCA expansion works out, some kind of marvel themed property wouldn't make a bad third gate...
