Disneyland is adding 2600 new parking spaces effective Friday, when the Toy Story parking lots officially open. The new lots, named "Buzz," "Jessie," and "Woody" will be open daily. Shuttle bus service is offered from the new lots, including wheelchair-accessible shuttles.

This lot offers amenities that might help people save time when they arrive at the Esplanade. "Vacation planning" kiosks will offer a small selection of basic admission passes (single-day, single-day hoppers and multi-day hoppers) and will also sell stroller and wheelchair rental passes. These kiosks do not have all of the options of the ticket booths - they only accept credit cards, do not sell Annual Passes, and can not process cast member discounts.

Sounds like Disney is trying to make things quicker for people so they dont have to wait in line at the ticket booths. That to me is a good idea. Especially during the summer when the temp can get pretty high up there. Now if only they could put in the outdoor air conditioning units I have seen on TV in peoples back yards to keep it nice and cool in the Parks. That would be great.

ahh - there's still the ever present bag check - but yes it will save time.

I just wonder how often they will run the shuttle - because what I read during the Mickey's Halloween Treat about shuttle service was downright scary!

Where is it?

Thanks!

The Toy Story lot is near the southeast corner of Harbor & Katella, behind the Katella Cast Member Lot. If you parked in Pongo or Buzz last summer, that was it. The Orange County Register published a parking map (http://www.ocregister.com/articles/disneyland-238376-park-.html?graphics=1#graphics1) of the Resort - the new lot is in red. (There are some other errors in their map, so don't rely on it 100%)

The entrance is off Harbor, at West Convention Way. (You'd turn left to go into the Toy Story Lot, right to go to the Anaheim Convention Center.) Shuttle service (former OCTA busses) is offered. The lot opens at 11am today.

I added some photos from this morning, including a shot of the new ticketing kiosks. They use converted Outdoor Vending carts (complete with health department sticker, which made me laugh), and sell only single-day, single-day hoppers and multi-day hoppers. They only take credit cards. A wait sign at the kiosks will tell you how long the line at the main entrance ticket booth is, so you can decide if it's faster to buy right there.

We previously reported that you could purchase stroller and wheelchair rental vouchers at the parking lot kiosk. That changed this week, and now you can only purchase stroller rental vouchers. Wheelchairs still need to be rented once you get to the theme park, due to the deposit and deposit refund proceedure.

That's neat. :p

That's a good use of assets, I think. Clever of them! :)

Has anyone use these buses yet? I was wondering if both the entrance and the exit to the bus required you to go up or down stairs?

I ask because someone in out group has a hard time on stairs.

Thanks AVP. I knew there had to be something but wasn't sure. :)

I hope they put up que like they have at WDW for the buses. It sure does help with all the pushing and shoving that happens at the end of the day.

We just boarded a bus for a test run, and I doubled checked that the busses are both wheelchair-accessible and kneelers. There are shade structures on the parking lot side, but, at least this morning, with 6 busses lined up and waiting, there was no need for them. We pretty much stepped out of our car and onto a bus.

Oh that sounds nice. Im sure the parking lot will get busier as people find out about it. But it sure sounds nice and quite right now. :) Thanks AVP for the update.

Yes, they have ques like walt disneyworld. Whe we were leaving right after the fire works there were a line of busses wating didn't even need the que. My only problem is they allow children to stand while the bus is moving. Our driver slammed the breaks at the last min and and kid 5 or six went fling smack on the ground. She was cring alot. When we got out of the bus she was still cring yell bad bad bad bad bad bus ride. It made me feel sad the magic ended for her and thats whats she's going to remeber about her trip to disneyland.

Her parent(s)/guardian(s) should have taken care of her. Shame on them for not holding on to her. I've ridden busses and trains many times with my children. Not once did they fall down.

I guess people really do lose their heads at the happiest place. Sigh.

Could you hit this lot first or only after M&F is near capacity?

I agree, codewoman. The parents should have had better control.

But I am also shocked that anyone let a 5 or 6 year old stand. If I'm sitting on a bus and a little one that age is anywhere near me, I'm giving up my seat for them. Same goes for people who look elderly, and pregnant women. I won't "insist" with an elderly person, but I will insist with kids under about 8 and pregnant women.

Do these buses have adequate grab bars for people (even "short" ones) to hold on to?

There are signs on Harbor, Disney Way, Ball (and probably on Katella as well, but I don't see those while heading to work) all guiding visitors toward that lot. My guess is they're trying to get people used to it being there? Or trying to get all non-regular visitors to head there first - knowing that the APs will probably still go to the structure! I know I have so far... I'm heading over there after work though, so maybe I'll give the new lot a try! :)

How long before they add these ticket kiosks or even build full blown booths at Mickey and Friends too. It looks like they are working out pretty well for the park and the guests.

Today they were parking cars in here all day. So It might depend on which direction you approach from. Toy Story looks like it might be more convenient to get in and out of.

Wasn't there talk of adding another theme park in that lot? Surprised it is a permanent parking lot.
