Amazing great Historic section of the Friday, July 15th, 1955 Long Beach Independent-Press=Telegram Newspaper, 16 pages long.

Much of the section is ads from original sponsors and companies involved in building Disneyland.

If you love Disneyland History, this is a must read. Also lots of photos from 1955.

I loved the fact that Disneyland had over 12,000 Parking spaces (and the cost was 25 cents a day) when it opened. That is more than the current Parking Structure.....

Also on Page 16, loved the directions to get to Disneyland from San Diego.

Very cool! Thanks for posting that. I saw the one from the Orange County paper on the same day. Dave Smith brought it out at the studio tour. This one looks nearly the same, but there are a few different things. More photos in this one as opposed to drawings.

They used a lot of drawings in the OC one because they attractions weren't finished enough yet to take pics. They must have had a little more time to get proofs in for this one.

The funny thing is that even though it was opening day, it was invitation only. so people were reading this and couldn't get in that day. I'll bet they were pretty hyped to visit the next day though. :)

25 cents for parking! Love it.

12,175 parking spaces. :)

How many spaces does M&F have?

Thanks for sharing Darkbeer.

25 cents for parking! Love it.

A price increase of 5600%...hummmmmm...:crying:

An "In-N-Out" burger cost 25 cents in 1955. It's only had a price increase of 700% in the same time.

Yep. The cost of construction and real estate have gone up much more than the cost of food.

How many spaces does M&F have?

A more interesting number would be how many spaces do they usually bother to use on any given crowded day...?

It's certainly never all of them.

Partially due to people who can't seem to park where they are directed but feel they are special and drive where ever they like to find a better one.
