Ok it may not be a secret exit but this past saturday seemed to be unusually busy. AFter the fireworks, we exited through a back alley in a Cast area only part of the park. We were led out from behind the carnation food place the passage way ran parallel to main street but it certainly was behind the scenes. Since you could see trash cans, pipes plumbing, and the back of the jungle cruise area. We ended up right in front of the firestation and then took the normal exit under the railroad bridge and out the front gate.

There are actually a few backstage routes that are used on extremely crowded evenings to get people out of the park. You went behind the back side of west Main Street, and there is also a path behind the east side that starts behind the Corn Dog Wagon and ends at the parade gate between the Mad Hatter and the Disney Showcase. When Light Magic was performing, a back route from "it's a small world" to Big Thunder Ranch was also used to get people out of the area.

AVPThere is also one that I have no idea where it starts, but drops people off into the exit area of Space Mountain. We saw this one used a lot at the end of the parade during the 50th.

The usual route for CHOC Walk takes you out of the park via the "corndog" exit, between the First Aid center and Plaza Inn. It's actually very clean back there (or at least they clean it up for CHOC maybe) and they usually have the Disneyland Fire Department guys hanging out there with their truck cheering people on. You can't see anything but a bunch of plain white buildings. It's pretty boring, really.

There's actually a really nice shortcut between Main Street and Space Mountain that I've used a few times during media events (always escorted by a host, and always with my camera properly stowed ;) ), and there have been more than a few instances where Main Street has been so crowded when I've been there as a "normal" guest that I've wished I could use to bypass the traffic.

I've been that way myself years ago. It would be an awesome shortcut if it were available regularly!

me too!
I love when they open this up because Main Street is horrible when everyone tries to leave at once. This relieves some of the congestion.
