View Full Version : Make your own Disney park

I thought this post could be a fun little diversion (hope it doesn't duplicate overdone threads from the past). Here's the scenario:

Michael Eisner has gone crazy (er?), and in a fit of insanity he contacts you and tells you his plans to totally redesign the Disneyland Resort. He tells you to take up to 10 rides/attractions from either park (Disneyland or DCA), and make your own park of ultimate joy.

He then tells you to do the same and create a park for your worst enemies.

Which rides do you put in each park?

Ok I'm taking the following
Space Mountain
Soaring
Thunder Mountain
Indiana Jones
Matterhorn
Splash
Main Street
Pirates
Haunted Mansion
Tom Sawyer Island

10 isn't really enough if you have to choose places as well as rides. I know what I'd put in the crap park however.

Superstar Limo X 10 = worst park ever.

I'll take:
1. Hyperion Theater
2. Disney Animation
3. Soarin' Over California
4. California Screamin'
5. Indiana Jones
6. Pirates of the Carribean
7. The Haunted Mansion
8. Splash Mountain
9. Innoventions (Take the animatronics from splash mountain and rebuild America Sings in Innoventions building, then put in new characters in Splash Mountain.)
10. Space Mountain

For the worst park ever (I personally have no enemies):
1. Maliboomer
2. Submarine Lagoon, in it's current state, never to be fixed up again.
3. People Mover/Rocket Rod Track, again in it's current state, never to be fixed up again.
4. Motor Boat Lagoon, same deal.
5. The Fantasyland area of the Skyride, again same deal.
6. FOF arena, in it's cureent state, only being used for coporate events.
7. Super Star Limo, without any of the Animatronics (those would be remodeled and reused in my new splash mountain).
8. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Play It (but no one to run the show)
9. Mickey's Detective Story
10. The Observatron or Cosmic Waves, both in their current states.

I think that should give a good start to the best park, the worst park will just remain that way forever.

Only 10 attractions? Sounds like everyday Eisner to me ;)

Let me know when the number hits 25.

--and I don't count tortilla and bread baking in that number!!!

My park
Mansion (duh)
Pirates
Alice
Astro Oriber (with the caveat that it is to be placed on high, where it belongs)
Space
Jungle Cruise
Muppets 3D (I love the Muppets)
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail
Matterhorn
And for my last one, I'll cheat. Combine Big Thunder and Grizzly River Rapids. How cool would it be to have a mountain that houses both a coaster and a rapids ride?

Enemy Park
Cosmic Waves
Luminaria
SSL (duh, with an apology to the few fans it has)
Whatever the Flik's Fun Fair Bumper Cars are called
The NASA Experience
It's a Small World (but first I would sabotage the ride system such that it gets the rider stuck in the ride every time, and install seat restraints that do not release for at least 30 minutes once the boat is stuck :~) I do like the ride, but if we're talking forms of torture...)
I'd reasemble the cast of Steps in Time, just for this purpose.
Golden Zehpyr (especially if this park were located in Chicago)
Boudin
A forever empty Festival of Fools stage area.

Ok, here's mine:

Park of Delight

Adventure thru Inner Space (duh)

Space Mountain

The Haunted Mansion

Matterhorn Bobsleds

Pirates of the Caribbean

Splash Mountain

Big Tunder Mountain Railroad

let's bring back a couple of old timers, shall we?

The Skyway

Mine train thru Nature's Wonderland

and, at the expense of the venerable Mark Twain, let's add at least one Fantasyland dark ride:
Alice in Wonderland

And now, for my next trick, I will take the hard road and create the Dastardly Devilish Park using NO attractions from DCA, but consisting only of current and/or former Disneyland attractions.

The Astro Orbiter (sunken slightly below ground level this time)

Rocket Rods (made even more disheartening by a queue area with Peoplemover cars everywhere)

The American Space Experience

in all fairness, one of the similarly lame exhibits of yesteryear:
The Bathroom of Tomorrow

Tarzan's Treehouse (with Swisska Polka played not only at the base of the tree, but everywhere along the backwards walking route)

Tom Sawyer Island (in its most recent operational state, of course)

Country Bear Vacation Hoedown (with a tiny video monitor in the lobby that plays the vastly superior, original Country Bear Jamboree)

Gadget's Go-Goaster (with an expanded queue area, and Fast Pass)

The Indian Village (let them deal with the p.c. issues of today with this gem from yesterday)

and
Mission to Mars (exactly as it was)

My Park:
1. Grizzly River Run
2. Space Mountain
3. Matterhorn Bobsleds
4. Sleeping Beauty Castle/Main Street
5. Indiana Jones Adventure
6. Thunder Mountain
7. Splash Mountain
8. Haunted Mansion
9. Hyperion Theater
10. Rivers of America complete with Fantasmic!

The Bad Park:
1. Gadget's Co Coaster
2. Tarzan's Treehouse
3. Honey, I Shrunk The Audience
4. The Nasa Experience
5. The Astro Orbiter
6. Maliboomer

8. Innoventions
9. Mullholand Madness
10. King Triton's Carousel

I was so tempted to give the bad park Pirates or something, nobody should have to go through that much torture!!!

Hey, everyone's entitled to their opinions and all, but you just pulled the equivalent of showing up to a Star Trek convention and proclaiming, "I'd like Trek a whole lot better if I didn't have to suffer through that darn original series!" You're in the wrong place if you expect people to get much support with that statement.

EDIT: OOOOH! Never mind. I see what you meant. You wanted to temper the bad park with Pirates to soften the blow. Gotya. Phew, had me worried for a second.

Since I started the thread, I figured I'd better answer my own question :)

My park is based on my more limited Disneyland experience than the average poster here... but I think it looks alright :)

Good park:

1) Pirates of the Carribean
2) Haunted Mansion
3) Splash Mountain
4) Grizzly River Run
5) California Screamin'
6) Indiana Jones
7) It's Tough to be a bug :)
8) Jungle Cruise
9) Indiana Jones
10) Main Street

Bad park:

1) Superstar Limo
2) Autopia (apologies to classic Disney fans)
3) Rocket Rods... I never rode them, but they're a must for the sheer noise the tire squeals make.
4) Tarzan's Treehouse
5) Six more helpings of Superstar Limo :)
...it's been a while... I believe I've blocked out everything else...

...but the kicker is, it would be serviced by the same maintenance staff that were working during our last trip to Universal :)
...the day I broke character and surprised my wife by lodging a complaint.
