Hello everyone,

I'm wondering if someone here knows...(of course you do!)

Here's the sitch:

My family is driving to Disneyland resort a day or two before I fly to Orange County to meet them (I'm staying home so I can go to the Walt Disney Family Museum preview). My family will, obviously, be going to the parks before they come to the airport to pick me up in the early evening.

My question is this: if my family takes my annual pass with them to the park, can they get a fastpass using my AP card? (Specifically, I *really* want to go on Ghost Galaxy, the new Space Mountain Halloween ride when I get there.) I *think* my AP should be able to get a fastpass since it's not a blockout date, but then again, since it didn't go through the entry gate scan, will it not work in the fastpass machines?

Your thoughts?? Thanks!

well you need to go thru the park in order for it to work so you can a fast pass for space mountain

No, your card doesn't work on the FP machines unless it has been scanned at the entrance gates. HOWEVER...

If your family gets FP for their group, and explains the situation politely to the CM, I am sure they will make an exception for you.

We have had this exact situation where we all had FPs and one person joined us later without the FP and it was no problem. Let one extra person is normally not an issue.

I had wondered if this would be the case; thanks for the info!! I'm glad it will work out for me to see the changes at Space Mountain. I'm really looking forward to it.

I could be wrong (wouldnt be the first time), but I swear on our last trip, grams was not feeling well so I brought her AP with me to try to answer you exact question, and it gave me a fastpass. Flame away if you want, but I seem to recall it working, despite many on here saying it wouldnt.

Why not give it a try?

Had she entered the park already that day with it?

I seem to recall it working, despite many on here saying it wouldnt.

We have received fastpass rejections that said the entry medium used for the fastpass was not used to enter the park that day (even though in our case it was).

When there was a line at the gate that made me not want to exit and re-enter the park, they sent us to City Hall to get a cardboard ticket thing to use for fastpasses instead of our AP.

Why not give it a try?No problem trying, but what they will get is a "fastpass" ticket that says the ticket media was not used for admittance and not valid.

How about this solution? Have the family go get FP as soon as they hit the gate, check the mature time, go back and get another FP as soon as the window opens, they will all have matured before you arrive that evening...then everyone has a FP?

Pure genius and an excellent idea. FP are good all day so that would work.

Trust MammaSilva to have a sound, reasonable solution.

But...really...my family...holding *two* sets of FPs for the new attraction...isn't that temptation really over and above the call of duty??

NO, as you would use one ticket to get the FP. Then find a ride that has FP that one or more persons cannot ride such as Indiana Jones or where you can use a baby swapping pass thing.

9 am Space Mountain FP for the whole group
11 am or earlier get one FP for Space mountain
11:10 get FP for all but one person for another attraction

If security sees someone selling FP they will escort that person out of the park and take their admission from them. Not tempting to me in the least bit.

ya'll can call me crazy, and it must be a fluke with DH's AP but I've gotten numerous FP's with his AP on multiple days when he hadn't been ANYWHERE NEAR the parks. The 1st time I thought it was a fluke, I tried it again to see if it worked, it did, I tried it the next day, it worked again. I tried in on our next trip, it worked. Our AP's expired and we got new ones a few months later, I didnt think it would still work. in July DH had to work but drove up to DL in the afternoon to meet us, I kept his AP, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try it, it worked again. I got multiple FP's that day.

Well to reduce the temptation they wouldn't have to use all their passes, just have one 'take a hit for the team' and get a single FP for you...cuz we all know they are going to hit the ride in the standby line while picking up the first set of fast passes :D

This reminds me of something that happened at Big Thunder Mountain's Fastpass machines a couple years ago. I was getting FPs for the family, and a young man needed help figuring out how it worked. I showed him how to put the ticket into the machine, did it a couple times, and on my last AP, it was like I'd hit the jackpot in Vegas! FPs kept coming and coming and coming out of the machine!

I had more than enough for my family to go on the ride twice and others to spare...so I gave them to him. He really didn't need to use the FP machine after that, but I hope if he ever used one on his own, he didn't expect something like that to happen.

But I always go to the same FP machine at Big Thunder...just in case!

You certainly know how the minds of my family work...of *course* they'd get into the standby line first thing in the morning after getting FPs!

But I wonder, who will love me be mature enough to be the one who sits out one ride...I'll bet it's none of the kids under the age of 14! Probably that same great guy who came up with the idea of bringing my AP along for the FP in the first place!

Could this have been a while ago? The software system has been upgraded several times over the years. Originally, you could use any barcode, even grocery store cards to get a FP.

AFTER? My money says everyone gets in line short straw runs and gets FP then catches UP

last time was in July of this year, before that it was Sept, Oct and Dec of 08.... I haven't tried is since July cause DH is always with us at the parks....

ETA.. and two different bar codes, the old AP's expired in Dec and we renewed in April.... I think DH's AP is just special!

Glad I was not the only one. I swear it worked, but I could be wrong.

I think Silva had the best solution.
