I was at Disneyland yesterday, and we were walking back into the gates right when the fireworks were going on. As we were walking down Main Street, there was this woman in front of me with a friend, was was quite obviously intoxicated. She was also holding one of the green cups they serve alcohol in at DCA. She was kind of swaggering as she walked as well.

Shouldn't they have not allowed her to enter in the park at all? I had assumed you were not even allowed to leave DCA with alcohol, let alone bring it into DL. I was just kind of shocked, because not only did she walk pass several cast members being that the fireworks were occuring, she stopped and talked to one she knew. I understand the CM not saying anything to her right then and there, but once she walked away, couldn't the CM have contacted someone on the path ahead to stop her or something?

I don't know, maybe I'm expecting too much? Anyone else have an experience like this?

Nope, she shouldn't have been allowed to take it into DL. I would have pointed it out to a CM.

Not all CMs are up on everything going on in DLR. The parade CMs may not have known that a green cup from DCA was not allowed. I believe it is only alcohol that is not allowed. Also guests do sneak prohibited items such as mace, drugs, and weapons into the parks. The only thing you can do is talk with security as they have a vast network that knows the rules or can find someone who knows the rule in question. They are best equipped to handle drunk guests or rule breaking guests in DLR.

What items are not permitted within Disneyland® Park, Disney's California Adventure® Park or the Downtown Disney® District?

Alcoholic beverages and any illegal substances

Thsi applies to both parks and DTD. They do not allow handcuffs, duct tape, air horns, pots and pans, megaphones, musical instruments and cremated remains. I hear people say you cannot bring glass jars into the parks but they do allow medicine and baby food. I love reading these rules to see how many I have broken, lol.

It is my understanding alcohol (served in the green/yellow cups) is supposed to remain in the Pacific Wharf area. I have heard of people taking a beer out to the EP and having CMs tell them they need to remain in the Wharf area with green cups.

Why?

Why isn't it allowed or why would I have pointed out to a cast member?

I have seen quite a few people walking around DCA drinking, and no one has said anything to them. So I dont know how much they actually enforce the rule about where people drink, as long as they arent being a nuisance to other guests.

Is that policy new? I thought that alcohol sold in DCA could be taken anywhere within the park? I know last time we got drinks we walked around with them without anyone saying anything. Of course, they were wine glasses and not the florescent cups for beer/margaritas.

Why would you point it out to a cast member?
For several reasons....
1. I'm a rule follower.
2. Disney puts rules into place for our safety, why would one want to compromise that?
3. I personally wouldn't want a staggering drunk hanging out near my kids.

I have seen them all over DCA with them. By screamin' and ToT specifically.

1.so you've never broken a rule in your life?

2. Understandable, but how is it personally harming you?

3. Do you keep your kids away from places that serve all alcohol? Restaurants, DCA, downtown Disney, Disney hotels?

Why wouldn't you?

Because I'm not in charge of how others act at Disneyland. I don't let others behavior cause my time at the park to be bad, Its not my place to say how someone should act.

People talk on rides, take pictures, do many things I don't agree with, but that's them. I wouldn't run over to a cast member everytime, my trip would suck. I wouldn't want to be the Disneyland hall monitor.

A visibly drunk person would be unnacceptable at either park and should be escorted out by security. I don't much care where people drink but the parks are not an appropriate place to be drunk.

1. Are you serious? Of course I have, I'm 34 years old and not claiming to be perfect. I'm saying, in general I follow the rules. I would never break a rule that was put into place for the sole purpose of ones safety and the safety of others.
2. Who knows how some staggering drunk could personally harm me. People do irrational things when intoxicated, a risk I'd rather not take.
3. No, but I would certainly avoid having my kids around someone who was quite evidentally intoxicated. In case you aren't familiar, you can also be arrested for public intoxication. Again, back to the rule breaking point.

Disney is a family place. I agree that adults should also be able to have a few adult beverages and enjoy themselves, but I also think that a responsible adult would consider their surroundings and follow the rules.

I would have mentioned it to the CM even if it was a simple "I thought the only place in Disneyland they allow alcohol was in club 33."
I have also searched for security when I discovered the two men in the family bathroom before me had been smoking pot, I told security what they were wearing and what direction they went in.
And I do let people know there are smoking sections, since I have seen many people almost burn children with their cigarettes. That seems like a safety issue to me.
I don't think I am the DL hall monitor but I do think if something as simple as mentioning something to a CM or a guest could prevent a bad situation, I can do that. I don't go looking for this stuff but if I notice it, I am not going to ignore it, because it could go bad and that would partly be my fault for not doing that small thing.

Why would you point it out to a cast member?

It is most likely a violation of the law? It is illegal to consume alcohol in public outside of approved areas. Public drunkenness is also illegal.

And, yes, I consume alcohol. And yes, I consume it in front of my children, in appropriate, legal and responsible fashion so as to model the behavior to my children.

Well said.

If I had kids, I would have told a cast member. Since I don't have kids, I honestly probably would have been laughing at the drunk person. That's just me though. I totally understand why it's an issue. Drunk in public is illegal. And anyway, Disneyland is not the place to be drunk. Go to a bar.

True -- but that doesn't mean I don't tell a CM when someone is doing that. I might not do it everytime, but I have when it is ruining my experience (and I can prove that they are doing something in violation) All it takes is one moron to do something against park policy to ruin it for everyone else.

I tell CMs when people are smoking in areas they shouldn't be... I give them a head's up when someone is taking flash pictures ... I let them know if a guest is wearing a shirt that belongs at six flags.

She should have been stopped
1) Leaving DCA or
2) Entering Disneyland

I don't drink, but I wouldn't have turned you in. I'm not a hall monitor.

Still don't understand why people worry so much of what others do. I can understand if they are making a LOUD, OVERWHELMING, scene that more people notice than don't, but a little swagger, at little sip here and there, oh well. I'll be on splash mountain enjoying my time.

What if she wasn't drunk, maybe she had a walking disability. The Original Poster never said this person was making a scene.
