We got to ride the Lilly Belle!! :-) Seriously - highlight of my YEAR!

I have officially done everything in the park - that was the only "ride" left, though that doesn't really count, still wanted to knock it off my list. Yipee!!!

If you haven't done it before, you should! Just hang on to the little ones, OMG there is breakable glass all over the place (vases, picture frames) and when the windows are open, a smaller child could stand up on the seat and jump right out - yikes! We had an awesome "chaperone" who told us all kinds of neat Disney trivia about Walt, some stuff I had never heard before. SO FUN!!!!!

I got a ride on the Footsteps tour, it is a treat. I guess riding up in the engine is the next step.

We've done it also. I really enjoyed it. MDM felt a little claustrophobic while on it. Yes, there are lots of breakables in there. But it is sooooo interesting!

Yay! I'm happy for you!

I really love the ambiance in the car. Definitely one of those special things to do at Disneyland.

That's so awesome! This is something I still need to do.

Were you able to go out onto the platform at the end of the car?

That is one of the few things I have to do in DLR. Wow and congratulations.

How do you get to ride on the Lilly Belle? Do you have to make a special request? Stand in a certain place? Be at a certain depot? I'd love to ride it too!

I heard a CM tell some other guests that you can go to the Main Street station and schedule a time to ride it, based on availability. I had never heard that you could schedule a time, but just that you have to board and Main Street and they ask that you do a grand circle tour.

In March, we saw it on the back of the train in New Orleans Square, asked to ride and were escorted to the car. We had to walk onto the tracks because the station was not long enough. Also, in Toontown the station would not have been long enough. In Tomorrowland it was just barely long enough. So I can see why they want you to board at Main Street.

The best "attraction" I have ever been on is the train when its last ride around, midnight, and the CM goes WAYYY off script and makes some rather off color but HILARIOUS jokes. I havent laughed so hard since I saw Bill Cosby.

I have ridden it three times, twice we just asked at Main Street station and waited for it to come back around and the other time they gave us a specific time to come back.

Our first time, there was a large group waiting to ride and they said we could go with them if there was enough room. Well, there was one person too many but the conductor that was going to be riding with them looked at my son and said "if he can ride on your lap, you can join us." So we all piled in, me sitting with my son on my lap. As it turned out, the large group said they had dinner reservations and got off at New Orleans Sq. station (so we ended up with the car to ourselves the remainder of the ride).

I was surprised they were allowed to get off (and that you were able to board at NOS) because we have always been told that you could only board/deboard at Main Street Station.

The time when they told us to come back at a specific time we almost didn't make it, LOL. We got stuck in a longer-than-usual FP line for Indy and had to get back to Main Street Station while the street party was going on. We ended up going through the stores to bypass Main Street and arrived at the station exactly at the time stated. They had stopped letting people in (maybe because of the parade) but we told them who we were and the conductor said "oh, we were expecting you" and let us in. We barely sat down in the station when the train pulled up.

That is so awesome!!!!

We've tried to ride the Lilly Belle on several occasions but it's either not running or it's busy with more important people. Hopefully someday...maybe our wedding day next year or on a birthday! That would be so special.

Congrats and thanks everyone else for the tips.

We also got to ride it when we were there to celebrate my son's birthday. It was super cool because we were there with a guest who goes to Disneyland all the time and had never done that. I try to get a "never done" for our guests. Score!

I believe it is either 14 or 15 seats. It may have been 14 seats and we had 15 people on our first trip so my son had to sit in my lap. But those numbers are what comes to mind, LOL.

From just our observations, they have been running it pretty often lately so your chances are good that it will be running next week. They only time I know for sure that they don't use it is when it is raining. It may still be on the train but the conductors told us that they don't allow people to ride in it then because they don't want the carpet/chairs, etc to get wet.
So no problem this time of year :-)

It is 14 seats.

Club 33? Check
HM with lights on? Check
Fantasmic/fireworks on Club 33 Balcony? Check
Walt's Apartment - no, but that is not something you could just ask for or pay for, so I don't think that should count!

I really meant to say I have officially done every RIDE at Disneyland.

The "official policy" as given to us by the escort CM who is trained on the Lilly Belle was this

- Go to Main St station and find the CM with the radio (he/she stays behind in the station at all times)

- Ask if you may ride

- IF there is a trained CM available to escort you, and there is room, they will allow you to ride.

-They only allow boarding and disembarking at Main St - in other words it has to be a full trip around

-They will not allow boarding if it is raining, to protect the carpet (it is the last remaining piece of carpet from the roll that carpeted Walt's apartment and is irreplaceable)

- I don't know about scheduling a specific time to come and ride, I don't see how they could do that because it depends on if it is available and if there is a trained CM available to ride with you... not sure about that.

Now don't post a million replies that I'm wrong because you got to do this that or the other differently. I am just passing on what I was told, by a Trained CM, as far as the correct way to go about trying to get a ride.

Actually it is offered thru Disney Adventures but at a tidy little sum!

How fun! Love your avatar, too!! :)

I was able to ride the Lilly Belle with some of my favorite women in the whole world. It was a great time! The CM told us great tidbits, allowed lots of pics and made sure it was a special trip. Great memories!

Congrats!! :D
