I recently bought a Disneyland book that points out that the big moose (Melvin) that was on the wall in Country Bear Jamboree is still in the resort somewhere... but it didn't say where. Anyone know where he is?

They are in the Winnie the Pooh ride! You have to look for them though,
after the woozle area, look behind and up.

As someone else linked for me, I will link for someone else (http://www.mouseplanet.com/more/mm030326avp.htm):). About half-way down the page is a picture.

It also helps if you're in the first or second row of the ride vehicle. It's at least very difficult, if not impossible, to see them from the last row.

Now I can't wait to go check out the pooh ride in November.

Do CM's not want you to know that those kind of tributes are on the rides? When I was getting off the Pooh ride last year, I specifically asked the CM where the Buffalo head was on the ride, as I had heard it was there. He looked at the other CM and said that's an "urban myth" and acted like there was no such thing.

Sometimes, they just don't know about it and so can be dismissive.

There are three heads mounted over a hallway you enter just after the hufalump (spelling?) room. You have to twist around and look backwards and up to see them.

Sitting in the front row of the ride will help.

I have a photo I'll post it later if I can figure out how.

The book I've enjoyed using to find Hidden Mickeys is:
Hidden Mickeys: A Field Guide to Walt Disney World's Best-Kept Secrets, 3rd Edition by Steven M. Barrett (Paperback - Jun 25, 2007) (http://www.amazon.com/Hidden-Mickeys-Disney-Best-Kept-Secrets/dp/1887140719/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1250179936&sr=8-1)
There is also one for Walt Disney World
Hidden Mickeys, 2nd Edition : A Field Guide to Walt Disney World's Best Kept Secrets by Steven Barrett (Paperback - May 25, 2005) (http://www.amazon.com/Hidden-Mickeys-2nd-Disney-Secrets/dp/1887140565/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1250179936&sr=8-6)

While riding Pooh (multiple times) with my son last weekend, we encountered a family using the DL book. I helped them find two of the HMs in Pooh. We all had to ride several times :)

I love the fact the line for Pooh is very short.

BTW: you can purchase the book in the parks at most of the stores

Sorry, but the heads in Pooh are NOT the original large heads that were in the CBJ theaters. The heads that they mounted in Pooh were originally at the end of the Mile Long Bar, the counter that had mirrors on either end to give the illusion that it was, well, a mile long. These 3 heads were mounted on one mounting board, just as they are now in Pooh. The original CBJ heads are simply way too big to be mounted that way. Still, it's a pretty cool tribute to what used to be in that location.

I have a hidden mickey's book, and this isn't in there. The book I read about this in is called "Disneyland, Then, Now, and Forever". I got it on Main Street.

I was wondering about that... those orginal heads were pretty darn big.

We were fortunate enough to have the ride break down, so they turned on all the lights, emptied each honey pot by using a small rolling staircase, and escorted us out. We saw the heads! Very cool! It was after the crazy-colored heffalump room, just as the doors swing open. Turn around and look behind you above the doors. They looked like the real heads to me....

Ok, so I am really frustrated. I went on Winnie the Pooh TWO times on Saturday, and I full on turned around and looked behind me right after the "Hefalump Dream Room", and I didn't see anything!!!! I even asked the cast member, I told them I've seen pictures, and it looks like it should be RIGHT THERE. But there was nothing. :(

The one that looks like there was more than honey in the pot? Above the doorway upon exiting.

Yep, that room. ;)

When you exit that room, you're supposed to just be able to turn around and see the heads, but there was NOTHING. I was so sad.

were you in the front of the honeypot? If you are in the back row, you can't see them cause the "hood" covers them. And they are above the doorway so looking up while exiting to spot them helps. Sorry, you are frustrated, I can understand. We kind of found them by accident one trip and I came to ask what they were.
