Wandering around the net this morning I came across video of the "Lake of Dreams" at the Las Vegas Wynn resort. It looks fascinating -- a show with lighting, robotics, video, and animation in a lake. Could this be what Wonderful World of Color will include? (About the mechanics: http://www.fishertechnical.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=32:the-wynn-hotel-sign&catid=23:theme-parks&Itemid=37 ... about the lighting effects: http://www.prg.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2007/06/wynnresort.pdf)
I read more about the technology used. The most interesting part is the video animation WITHIN the lake, which is created with banks of LEDs under the water. But that isn't enough, because with clear water you couldn't see the effect. What they do is force billions of tiny bubbles into the water so that the LED lights have something to bounce off of. In effect, they carbonate the water.
Looking at the infrastructure they're building in the CA lagoon, I can't help but wonder if there are some similarities. It would be really amazing looking if they illuminated the water itself...

Here's the underwater LED rig they use (http://www.colorkinetics.com/ls/rgb/csplash2/) ... I'll have to take a look to see if any of there are in evidence in the lagoon, covered by those tarps...

Hmmm - possible, but I'm not sure. To make that effect work you need to be able to look down on it and we will be watching it from the shore. Not to say they won't do something like that.....

(Cool effect - good find!)
