Come out and play!
MouseAdventure Day at the Park
Sunday May 10th

Registration is now open for the Day at the Park division (link (http://www.mouseplanet.com/mouseadventure/)), and there's plenty of room for new teams to come play MousePlanet's signature community event.

MouseAdventure has grown so popular over the years that we know there has been little opportunity for new teams and players to experience the event. For the Spring, 2009 event we decided to add a second, noncompetitive weekend designed for teams that want to spend a really fun day at Disneyland without the pressure of competition. The new Day at the Park event is designed for new MouseAdventure teams as well as returning teams who play “just for fun.” If you've ever wondered what MouseAdventure is all about, this is the perfect opportunity to find out!

The Day at the Park division will include quests inside Disneyland Park and Downtown Disney. Teams will solve slightly modified versions of the Basic event quests, presented in the Classic MouseAdventure format where you can solve the quests at your own pace. We guarantee you will never look at the Disneyland Resort in the same way again!

The MouseAdventure Day at the Park event features an extended sign-in period with more time for pre-game socializing. Teams can also participate in T-shirt and mascot competitions before the main event begins. This is a great opportunity to meet some of the MousePlanet staff, and have a fun Day at the Park with fellow MousePlanet readers.

So, what exactly is MouseAdventure?

MouseAdventure combines the best parts of a scavenger hunt, a road rally and a trivia challenge in one fun event. Your goal is to solve a series of puzzle-based quests, using your keen observational skills to examine the details all around you. Some have called it an "Amazing Race" through Disneyland. We won't ask you to climb the Matterhorn, but you'll definitely travel to areas of the Resort you may never have seen before!

How is the game played?

MouseAdventure began with a single event format, and over the years we have modified, added, expanded and combined game elements to create a series of unique formats. Sometimes we give teams all of the quests at once, and it's up to each team to best decide how to manage their time to finish all of the quests. Sometimes we give teams just one quest at a time, and they must correctly solve each quest before they can move on to the next challenge. Sometimes you're trying to earn the most points by correctly solving the most quests, sometimes you're just trying to finish all of the quests as fast as possible so your team can be the first to cross the finish line.

For the Day at the Park event, teams will receive most or all of their quests at the begining of the event, and will have the rest of the event to complete as many quests as possible. Most teams consider this to be the easiest of the MouseAdventure formats, and it gives your team the opportunity to try to solve a whole variety of different quest formats.

What are the quests like?

Many MouseAdventure quests incorporate an element of popular paper-and-pencil puzzles like word searches, cryptograms, and logic problems. But you won't be sitting on a park bench all day, because you'll need to find clues and gather information to solve the puzzles. You may need to ride attractions, walk through shops, watch shows and examine little details to solve the quests.

We also add a sprinkling of side games to keep things interesting. We may hand you a sheet of EyeSpy photos and ask you to identify mystery pictures taken within the parks, or have you find as many other teams as you can to collect information from them. Some quests may even require you to find, interact with or perform for MouseAdventure crew members! The Day at the Park event will have a trivia section so you can test you knowledge of Disney minutiae.

What is the event day like?

MouseAdventure teams start their day at the ballroom of the Paradise Pier Hotel, where they sign in and receive their event materials, pose for team photos, and then get ready for the competition to begin. The Day at the Park event will have a longer sign in period to give teams a little more time to socialize with their fellow players before the game begins. We'll also hold the team t-shirt and mascot competitions before the main event starts.

When it's time to start the event, the MouseAdventure crew will go over the important details of the event and answer any questions the players may have. For this Day at the Park event, we'll also present a brief "MouseAdventure 101" orientation for new players and teams. Then it's time to head into the park! You'll collect your event packet as you leave the Paradise Pier Hotel, and head into Disneyland to start your game.

MouseAdventure crew members are always available at MouseAdventure Central - a designated area inside the parks - to answer questions, give hints and generally point you in the right direction. At the end of the event, teams will turn in their answer sheets back at MouseAdventure Central. We'll post the results of the Day at the Park event on MousePlanet later that same week.

How do I form a team?

MouseAdventure teams must consist of at least two players and no more than four players. Some people like having four brains on their team; some teams work better with just two or three players. It is up to you to decide whether you want 2, 3, or 4 people on your team, but there are often advantages for larger teams.

MouseAdventure is a perfect way to spend a day with your Disney-crazy family, friends and/or co-workers. If you're the only Disney fan you know, this thread can help you form a team with other MousePlanet readers (link (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=124581)).

We're betting the parks will be swarming with more than the usual number of guests that day, being that it's MOTHER'S DAY!!

Hopefully, there will be a better date, later in the year, when we can play again.

We're betting the parks will be swarming with more than the usual number of guests that day, being that it's MOTHER'S DAY!!Mother's Day is not expected to be unusually crowded. Judging by the number of family teams registered for the May 10th event (25% so far, which is really high for a MA event), it looks like a lot of moms said "I want to play MouseAdventure for Mother's Day!"

Hopefully, there will be a better date, later in the year, when we can play again. The April 26th event already sold out, and this is the only "formal" MouseAdventure we have planned in Disneyland this year. Our Fall event will be in Walt Disney World! We're planning a little something for West coasters to do that same day, but it won't be a full MA event.
