Found out about this from another website's newsletter - the official Disney pin website (http://www.disneypins.com/) has pictures of pins that are being released next week that depict various Disney characters as they will appear in the new version of it's a small world.

Woody and Bullseye (http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=42252)

Pinocchio (http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=42249)

Mulan (http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=42246)

Peter Pan and Tinkerbell (http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=42165)

Lilo and Stitch (http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=42164)

Ariel and Flounder (http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=42233)

Aladdin and Jasmine (http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=42167)

Cinderella (http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=42243)

I didn't have a feeling one way or the other about putting Disney characters in the attraction - I figured I'd see how they looked and then decide. I'm not really happy with the way these pins look, but I'm not sure if they're stylized versions of what the characters will actually look like on the attraction or if they will look exactly like that. I hope it's the former. I'm also not happy with the surfer dude being replaced by Lilo and Stitch. The husband is wondering where Woody and Bullseye will go since there's really no U.S. section - unless they're adding one in new.

But I'm still reserving final judgement until I've been through the attraction myself.

I thought I read somewhere that the small world dolls would be dressed as Disney characters. If that's the case they would look like these pins.

And I agree with you about the surfer dude. Why would a surfer wear a dress?

Now those are kind of cool! What a great idea bringing characters into it. Now maybe I can convince my DH to ride Small World again! haha, were these put into place with the latest refurb or is it still something to come in the future?

I'm iffy about adding the disney characters. This is the original ride designed by Walt disney and by changing what he has created, to me, feels like the original ride is now gone.

to answer cstephens - yes, they are adding a US section. When this was announced it made a huge stink at several fan sites (re-imagineering as the prime) on "tooting our own horn" and removing some other portions that were part of the original attraction (in this case the Rain Forest scene).

disneyandmore.blogspot.com had a photo essay of the Tokyo small world or is it hong kong (which is what we're going to get with new characters). Any character that is human will look like the dolls in the attraction. The other characters are supposed to look like Mary Blair's animals and other characters - but I want to see them in person before I make a call either way.

Characters that were not listed, but I thought were in the other Small World, were Alice in Wonderland and Simba/Pumbaa/Timon in the Africa section. I don't know if they plan to add all of the characters they did before - so we'll have to wait until it's opened.

as I said - i am sometimes nostalgic but I know Disney has to make changes to keep people coming (the HMH and IASWH have increased Christmas attendance tremendously). I will hold judgment for me until I see the attraction in person.

I think it'll be good. It's not like they're taking everything Mary Blair did out and replacing it with Disney characters. By now, I trust Disney. I was very sceptical about Jack being added to Pirates, but it didn't change the feel of the ride to me at all.
I'm excited for the America section. IASW in Paris has one and it is sooo cute. The DLP version of IASW is amazing though.
Was it just me, or did they move some of the rainforest stuff to the polynesia area during Christmas? My guess is that's where it's going to stay while the America stuff is put where it used to be.

Oh. man. If they replace the surfer dude with Lilo and Stitch, I will be really disappointed. He is my favorite character.

I wonder how much it will look like Hong Kong Disneyland's? They have Cinderella and the Prince, Marie, and some others not on those pins. I wonder if anyone will really notice or not. I am going in a month and am interested to see the changes.

If you rode on IASWH during the last holiday season, you may have noted that one room (right before Hawaii and the Pacific Islands, I believe) was blacked out with heavy curtains. I've been told that this room will be the new America scene. And the Rainforest characters had already been moved by the time IASWH opened this season.
