Hi.
Well, as a choir member (this was my 3rd year),
I did come away from the event a bit bummed. It
just felt like an uphill climb, each direction many
of us went. Agreed, myself, my family nor any ol'
Guest are "owed" diddly-squish per se, when it comes
to enjoying/attending Candlelight... but wasn't it started
as a "gift" to ALL for the Holidays? IMHO, that shouldn't
involve charging (if one has to go have dinner and spend
$$ to get a ticket...) folks to get in. Is it such a big deal
to just give out the 2 or 4 tickets, to the first folkes to
show up out front of the Park.
Or what about first-come, first seated in the actual
theatre (isn't that the deal for most any Gen Admin
show at most any event venue? Ya wanna good seat,
ya wait in a long line to procure one)? My friends and
family said they showed up at 3:45p to wait to go into
the theatre (hoping for a semi good seat). Next thing
they knew, they were being told that they could only
sit in the seats nr far house left... as they didn't have
the (or any) properly colored star stuck onto their tickets
Then.... they watched as certain people were asked
to move (in relation to colored stars), after the fact, to
other sections. And... after all that (including
standby wristbands, ect?), there were many empty
spots left in seating (I say, open up the ropes and
bring in some more folks waiting). Addtionally, one
of my friends uses a wheelchair, is blind and has a
prosthetic leg. They were really hoping to just be
able to get in and get a good seat and stay planted.
Seriously, just keep it general admin to all (with the
requisite {which is totally understood} front & center
rows for Disney family / Exec's).
I'm trying to not be a complainer. That's not my point.
I want to give an honest review of the plan put into
action... and these ones didn't seem really hot. We do
practice alot... we don't get paid and I know that I feel
that I take being in the event very seriously. Having
the oportunity to share it with anyone / everyone is
what makes it really worthwhile.
Happy Holidays and here's looking forward to continued
fine tuning for the event 2003.
