I've been an annual passholder for 10 years, my wife and I got married at Disneyland, and we went have a daughter whom we take to Disneyland 2-3x a month. Never, have I had a wild night like tonight!

We decided to head out to Disneyland this evening, after the sun (and the temps) went down. Usually I never go Labor Day weekend, more then likely the day after when crowds are zero. But due to our schedules, this was a good time.

Arrived to the park at 8:30pm and headed over to Frontier Land to get onto Big Thunder Mountain. Heading in line, got behind a bunch of kids smoking pot. Yah! Ugh that smell is horrible. (NO, I don't smoke pot! But I was around it once when someone mentioned that the smell was that of pot and I never forgot that putrid odor) Alright. So I reported it to a cast member, no biggie, and we continued on with our evening.

At around 10:08pm (8/30/08) we head into the Jungle Cruise. We just walked in the front (didn't even get to the first left turn of the queue) when we hear (and see) a CM yelling at the top of his lungs STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!

A second later KAAAABLLLAAAAAAAMOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! There was a boat stopped at the front/upper queue boarding area and here comes a boat what appeared to be full throttle and goes right into the back of the boat waiting at the front loading area!!!!

That was a wild impact and made all kinds of crashing/crackling sounds!!!

What really shocked me was the CM at the controls of the boat that rammed the other boat had this wild smirky grin on his face like "Whoops he hah hahaaha" I mean, he literally didn't care at all.

Another CM came up from the front boat with a flash light and looked at the back of the front boat, and the front of the back boat for damage. Then the boat that got hit took off with no passengers, my guess to unload it at the storage area after a run around the track.

The CM who was in the rear boat came up and parked and they loaded passengers. I couldn't believe anyone got on. We were another boat away and if I were ready to board, I would have refused that guys boat ride. No thanks!!!

Alright, so after that, we go on Tiki Room. Are the CM's on drugs?! Oh my goodness. The girl looked have plastered and talked like she was stoned to death. She then says she's going to wake up Jose and comes over with their wooden stick and beats on his perch for a good 20 seconds, no show starts. She then goes "hmmm..." and walks back to the control area. I heard her go "Whoops" and then says "Ok folks on the count of 3 say wake up jose 123! (Not 1...2....3... but just 123!) LOL! Everyone says wake up jose and then literally 4-5 seconds after we say it, he starts his show. She was way ahead of the time delay. Seriously, was this girl the brother of the guy driving the jungle boat?

So, after that, we leave. It's about 11:25pm, and coming out of the parking structure, they have all of Ball Road access closed. I needed to get some gas and usually go to that Shell right near the 5. Ok, so I take the over pass, and do the usual u-turn. On the way back south towards Ball Road, Anaheim PD has all lanes into DLR (even towards Magic Way) shut down with 2 police cars there AND all lanes going to east Ball Road shut down. What is going on here! I had to go west on ball road. I went down to the first light and hung a left to go down to Katella. I headed east on Katella to see what was going on down 22nd near the backside of DCA. Sure enough, all that was shut down by Ahaheim PD as well with a couple police cars. No idea what was going on.

But certainly a wild night!!!! No more labor day weekends at DLR for me! And funny enough, NO LINES!!!

The trffic shutdown was probably due to some portion of the half marathon. The Disney Way bit, anyways.

Ah I bet you are correct on that one. It starts at 6am today (Sunday) so that makes perfect sense.

I was hoping the police were there to arrest the drunk CM driving the Jungle Cruise boat that crashed heh.

It being Labor Day and all I bet all the seasonal employees got their walking papers last week or already know the end is near! While not always the right way to handle things sometimes people stop caring and get the attitude "whats the worst that can happen to me? I've already lost my job!"

Having worked a seasonal job when I was younger I've seen this happen countless times that it doesnt surprise me anymore.

I had the weekend off, could have driven down, but no way on a 3 day weekend. People do this every year. And please don't visit during Christmas to New Years, it is way worse.

Just Friday I had friends tell me they were going to Disneyland for Thanksgiving, as a friend had told them the crowds were almost non-existent.

I've been at Disneyland the Friday through Sunday after Thanksgiving, and I didn't think it was that crowded. The worst part was the drive home. I thought *everybody* was on the roads going home that Sunday afternoon. :(

Hmm, I'm confused why you're confused. Maybe if you ask a question, I can help.

Just to give you an idea of how it was for when we went, given a scale of 1-10, with 10 being New Year's Eve, it was a 5. Maybe it was just that year. Or maybe we happen to be at the parts of the park where fewer people were at.

Wow, I was at DCA on Sunday, and DL yesterday, and I was really surprised at how crowded it WASN'T, compared with what I was expecting. Ride times we experienced: Monsters Inc-10 min, TSMM-45 stated at info. desk (we didn't go), BLAB-15 min, Matterhorn-20 min, POTC-15 min, BTMRR-15 or 20, JC-5 posted (but then a boat got off track, so turned out to be more like 15), Nemo-45 posted (didn't ride), Space-30 posted (we got FP), carousel-5, Mr. Toad-10, Pinnochio-10 posted (didn't ride), Tiki room-waited 10 min for next show, but it wasn't even quite full.

We were at DCA from about 1-5, and DL yesterday from 11-5:30. These were NOT off-peak times, etc. They sure don't seem like bad ride times to me.

We were at DL Sunday night from about 8pm to midnight, and it was pretty crowded, and DTD around 8pm was extremely crowded with longish waits at restaurants. Second showing of Fantasmic was packed.

that's hilarious!!! it' especially funny to me because when i went with my choir, two of my friends were joking that Aladdin was stoned because he was walking around looking at everything like it was on fire. it was pretty funny. especially when this little kid asked him for his autograph and it took him about two minutes to register the request. we had a good laugh about it hanging out in the mickey cartoon reels on main street.

Matt,

We were sitting at the exit of Big Thunder Mountain watching the fireworks, and saw security escort that group of kids out of the Frontierland towards the main gates. Must have had 8 guards walking with those teens.

This was just after we were evacuated from Big Thunder Mountain when the trains broke down. We have photos and video of us stuck in the very first tunnel after leaving the platform. I have to upload the video onto youtube. We were all laughing about being stuck on the ride.

They gave us a fastpass for any choice of rides, so we took it to Space Mountain. While waiting in line, that ride also broke down. We were laughing the whole time, that we must be jinxed.

Agreed... I was at the park both Mon and Tuesday..

Not very crowded at all on Monday.

Tuesday was even lighter. I go every year on labor day and the day after.

Longest wait was for Toy Story Mania on monday at about 30-45 minutes.

I did notice that there seemed to be a shortage of CM's this weekend. My dad thinks it is because most of the college students went back to school this week. We had a bunch of nice CM's, but then when we had a fastpass incident on Splash on Sunday night, and the CM we reported it to gave us a blank stare, and said, "It's a problem we have sometimes but I don't know what I'm supposed to do about it." We went to guest relations the next day to complain and they fixed it, but it was still annoying. The majority of the CM's were awesome though.
