Unhappy R.I.P. Spaghetti Station

Well it looks like the end of another DLR area landmark. A green construction fence is up around The old Spaghetti Station and as I drove backstage thru the Ball gate I could see a demolition team starting to tear down the hotel next door. When I got to my office I called their number and it is disconnected. Alas another Cast Member watering hole is gone! The Lost Bar is too close to ground zero to be fun for CMs. And they gave us 20% discounts too. For those of you that had never visited their web site is still up. http://www.spaghetti-station.com

Sounds like Denny's is going to be packed...

I have to say I never ate there. Hopefully something else will be built in its place that will be CM-friendly.

I miss that old place...I used to sing Karakoke there...I have eaten dinner there . Its sad that all the cool places to go near DL are gone...I long for the old times ..I even miss Godfathers Pizza now which is part of the DL parking lot...Do you remember that one?

I am assumeing (and you know what happend when you assume) It is closing because there is another Spaghetti Station up the street in Fullerton. When LEaving Disneyland make a right onto ball road and then a left onto Harbor. Take Harbor all the way up to fullerton after goin under the Railroad turn right and you will be at the Speghetti Station. Same food!
No the question is what are they going to put in the place of the old station?

Well that's actually a Spaghetti Factory. Which I guess is probably similar...it is I believe a chain restaurant, or at least has more than just that one location, whereas Spaghetti Station was that one individual place.

I stand corrected. I was thinking they were the same because they had a cheese Spaghetti that was they same at both resturants. See What happens when I assume I always do make an A@@ of myself. :P

I hope another restaurant since the street hits a dead end -- I wonder if the Sheraton bought the property...

There's nothing like listening to "Feed the Birds" while on the steps of St. Paul's.

Wonder no more! The Sheraton Anaheim has owned the Spaghetti Station for quite some time.

Gonna miss it.

I'll try to find out what's happening with the property when I get home in a few days. Might be some business in it for me!!

What's this world coming to?

Oh no, I loved that place! I guess the decor was too authentic and the food too good to be associated with Disney. (Don't get me wrong, I'm a DLR premium passholder and I love the place, but the food generally sucks.).

Oh the humanity! The horror...the horror....

Well I ran over during lunch and took these shoots. There is an auction house there selling off all of the old western props. Any way here they are in a Kodak Gallery. Let me know if I got that log in prompt to go away.

Two more punches on the card and we would have gotten a free meal, too.

I like Millie's too, probably because I love "Millie's Salad." Mimi's has great breakfasts and a seafood pie on Fridays that's good. And tod can tell you about "Tacos Mi Pueblo".

Man that bites! I have been going to that place since I was a little boy in the 70's. It was one of our traditions to go and eat there on the second night after the park closes. (A little side note.... It is just strange going to restaurant around the park after it closes, because it looks like the night of the living dead.) I really dug their bread.

DOH!

These times they are a changin'

Has anyone seen any advertising for the auction-off sale? I always told myself that if that place ever closed, I'd have to pick up a souvenir when they liquidated Knott's should go take a hard look and get some pieces to add to the park, they match perfectly.

There is a big banner on the side of the building. You can see it from the 5. There is an auction truck parked at the site. I think you can just stop by and leave a bid.

I wish I knew the place was a CM hang out. I would have considered stopping by for some good old social fun.

If you would like to look at some of the items go to
www.americanauctionco.com.
Preview: All day Friday from 9 AM until 3 PM. Resuming at 8 AM on Saturday and the auctions begin promptly at 9 AM.
Everything is sold as is ~ where is, with no guarantees implied or otherwise indicated. Statements on auction day take precedent over any printed material posted.

Inquiries: Call Larry 562-430-8610 or 562-896-9171. No reservations will be taken as we will be moving from room to room and around the building. Phone bids and absentee bids will be accepted.

Hope this helps

That will teach me not to check this board more often. I would have loved to have gone and looked this stuff over but just read these posts this morning...rats!

Anyway driving down to San Diego on Saturday I saw the demo of the hotel going on and now I know why. Good pictures and they came up fine.

I was wondering if anyone did go to the auction and if so how was it and did you get anything?

BTW...I did talk with the GM of the Anaheim Sheraton (who owns the restaurant and the property) and he said they are expanding the parking lot into that dead-end street area, and also adding a "National Chain" restaurant to the space. He said he couldn't tell me at this point if they plan on leasing the restaurant out, or operating it themselves as a direct franchisee.

Just which "National Chain" it will be, has yet to be determined.

There is no expansion of the Sheraton Anaheim hotel itself in the works as part of any of this.

You know what that means -- no more free parking for the best off-premises place to watch the fireworks.

Let's hope it's a cast-friendly place with a bar and karaoke. Wouldn't it be funny if it were a Hooters? Disney would have a hemorrhage.

Don't worry Tod. We could still have karoake at Hooters. I'm sur TLMT won't mind.

{sings the Hooters closing song} Last call, last call. It's time for last call.
