How'd you hear about this?

I can see the side of the fireworks shows from home. I wonder how good a view it might be from there, or if I should just make the ten minute drive to stand in front of the park.

From HOME ??? sheesh, must be nice MELMEL ! I can't even imagine what it would be like to live so close..... I have said before that if it weren't for my kids, I would just move into Mickey's house after hours and then wander the park all day. Kinda like that movie "The Terminal", but with rides !

Wow, if I lived that close, I'd probably never go to work again.... Lucky you !

Testing was delayed, but ended right around 10. It was not the full show, as AB29 correctly posted, but the on-stage stuff that might "set the Jungle Cruise on fire" according to a friend.

I have photos, which I'll try to post sometime before midnight. Tink did not fly.

Here are eleven photos from tonight's test. Do not click if you want to be surprised in a few weeks!

One

Two

Three

Four
This is the "shoot out" between the Matterhorn and the Castle. There is a skull-and-crossbones projected on the Matterhorn during this sequence.

Most of these following photos look to be from the launchers around the hub:

Five

Six

Seven
I love the colors in these shells.

Eight

Nine

Ten

Eleven
This last photo is the "stretching room" effect for the Haunted Mansion sequence.

Thank you SO much for the photos.

Where do you have to be to see the skull projection on the Matterhorn?

i believe to get the full effect of everything, the hub is the place to be. which should make for some interesting situations considering the number of people it can hold and the 9:00 fantasmic crowd and all.

Here is what we think the test shows - these are numbered in the order the cuts appear on the video linked above:

AND PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS SPECULATION!

1) Projection of Walt Disney against Matterhorn before Tinker Bell's first flight. (Note, Tink did not fly during this test)

2) Unknown - may a portion of the Wonderful World of Disney sequence during Tinker Bell's flight.

3) Haunted Mansion sequence. 300 comets launced from locations around the hub.

4) Unknown - probably more from the hub launch positions

5) Unknown - may be from the 9-line behind Toon Town, a cast member says they were from the Castle launch positions.

6) Unknown - probably more from the hub launch positions

7) Pirates of the Caribbean sequance - skull and crossbones projection on the Matterhorn, followed by shootout between Matterhorn and Castle

8) Unknown - probably from the 9-line behind Toon Town.

9) Unknown, probably the end of the Tomorrowland seqeunce - probably from the hub launch positions

10) Unknown - based on the music we could barely hear, this was probably the hub portion of the finale.

DID I MENTION THAT THIS IS SPECULATION?

just a little wind...

I wonder - if there was even slight wind (even less than what they stop for today) would they cancel shows since the shells will be launched much closer to the guests than in previous shows. I am just looking at the pics and wondering about that safety issue (and how much Disney legal is risk averse).

Looks great! Thanks for posting.

It may just be the angle of the viewing, but it sure looked like a couple of those missiles in the Castle/Matterhorn scene came awful close to a mid-air collision! Wonder what that would look like if two of those puppies smacked into each other!

Also, some of those embers look to be still pretty hot approaching terra firma and Guest zones. Hope the show passes muster with the safety team.

This is going to be an amazing show. Will it be around after the 18 month celebration is over?

A couple of other notes for everyone...

I did leave out a few sequences that seemed very similar to other stuff on the video; the hub will be busier than seen on the video. The Matterhorn/Castle volleys (Pirates), Stretching Room (Haunted Mansion), and Green Flashies (Buzz Little Green Men?) sequences are definitely the gems to watch for.

I was a bit concerned about how much could be seen standing by the CALIFORNIA sign; as it turned out it was fairly impressive even from there and that did not include many of the higher off-park shells missing from the test. Given the amount of activity around the hub, the Main Street Train Station may be an excellent overview spot. Seems most of the cool stuff we enjoyed in Believe! just got moved up to center park.

Could barely hear the audio from location - the Esplanade soundtrack was loud. But I could hear a hint of the show sound. They were doing a run-through without the back wall and tink, including dimming Main Street lights and opening the Tink doors.

I could hear fireworks last night (Thursday, 14 April 2005)
starting at about 9:35 PM. (I live about 15 miles away.)
Were they testing again? Anyone know when they will
test next?
