What to Wear to Korean Wedding?
My boyfriend's co-worker is getting married this Saturday. I've never been to a Korean wedding and have no idea what is expected dress-wise. I plan to head to the mall Saturday morning. Any ideas?

I would just wear whatever you would wear to any other wedding i.e. dress based on the time of the wedding-- not on what "kind" of wedding it is. (unless of course the invitation says something like "Korean dress requested)

Yeah, you can probably just dress as you would otherwise, except for colors. It is my understanding that traditionally Korea has different color associations than here so you may want to have your boyfriend inquire with the groom as to whethere there are any color or traditions that should be known.

Easier said than done. Apparently my BF was asked via phone or in person if he wanted to attend this wedding. He isn't even quite sure where it is. If it was on my side, of course, all of these questions would have been answered
It is a 5:30 wedding -- I was told by someone to dress more conservative than I might to other weddings. I just don't want to insult anyone. Can I wear black or is that taboo at a wedding?

Try this link - it may have what you need to know.
I know what to wear to a Greek Orthodox wedding and a Scientologist funeral. Perhaps I can be more helpful in the future... AVP

I went to a wedding many years ago of a friend who is Korean, as is her husband. They had a regular ceremony in the early afternoon in the Rose Garden in the Berkeley Hills. The mothers of the bride and groom were dressed in traditional Korean gowns. Everyone came dressed as for a regular afternoon wedding. I don't believe it's considered ok to wear black to a wedding unless it's a "black and white" affair, and definitely don't wear white normally either.
