Join the Disneyland Resort VoluntEARS at AIDS WALK ORANGE COUNTY

The Disneyland Resort VoluntEARS are putting together their seventh walk team for AIDS WALK ORANGE COUNTY on Sunday, June 6, 2004 at the University of California, Irvine campus. The walk starts at 9:30, with the Team Photo at 8:30am. It's a 7K walk with a fabulous Family Fun Zone, Food Festival and Health Expo after the walk. Mickey and Minnie are scheduled to be there in their yellow VoluntEARS T-shirts too!

Disneyland has always reached out to the community and this is a great way for our true Disney fans to help out and be part of our team. We encourage all of your readers to join us that morning and raise money and awareness for this devastating disease. Did you know that Anaheim has the second highest infection rate in Orange County for HIV/AIDS? All of the money raised goes to benefit AIDS Services Foundation of Orange County, the largest most comprehensive not-for-profit AIDS-service provider in the county.

It's really easy to join the Team. Simply visit www.aidswalk.org/oc and click on the Disneyland Resort VoluntEARS hompage, or they can call Disneyland Resort Community Relations at (714) 781-0602. Each walker who raises a minimum of $50 will receive a special, limited edition cloisonne pin (while supplies last), plus they'll get a VoluntEARS T-shirt, a chance to win some cool prizes and be part of the Disneyland Resort Team Photo!

This would be a really good opportunity for our Team MousePlanet members to help out with a good cause! I'm assuming folks would want to sign up for VoluntEARS though, instead of setting up our own Team MousePlanet team. Right? I'm not sure. Let me know if anyone wants to actually have us create a Team MousePlanet. I don't know that I'll be able to attend myself.

BTW, I think we'll try to set up a Team Mouseplanet for the CHOC Walk in October.

We can set up a Team MousePlanet, but then we wouldn't be walking / participating with the VoluntEARS.

I *think* I'm free that weekend, and a 7K is just about what I'm supposed to be doing daily at this point in training, so I'm happy to be a MP sub-team captain, if others want to participate. But I'd really like to participate with the VoluntEARS.

Do you know, after we get this far, whwhat we should select under
Resort Team Types? or Whats a Ghost walker?

I don't know what a Ghost Walker is - I'd say join as an AP if you are one, or as a friend of an AP. Or an "other."

One option would be for everyone to sign up as a VoluntEAR so they can get their T-shirt, etc., but they can ALSO represent us!

Well, yeah, that's why I offered to be a sub-captain. We can't create an official new MousePad category within the Disney VoluntEARS registration form, but we can register with the VoluntEARS through the link I posted above and participate with the VoluntEARS as Padders. I'll probably order a MousePlanet t-shirt to wear in the walk, since I don't think you get the Disney one until you're done.
