Main Street Electric Parade/South Park

Okay, first I have to warn everyone that this is going to be a very off the wall thread. With that said, here we go.

I'm wondering how many of you have seen the South Park episode with the underpants gnomes. They are these little gnomes that steal your underpants when you aren't looking. Anyway, the underpants gnomes have this little theme song they sing when they march or do work and such. The underpants gnomes theme song was played throughout this entire South Park episode. Well, last December my boyfriend and I went to Walt Disney World and it was his first time there. When we watched the Mainstreet Electric Parade, the lights went down and they started playing the main theme of the Electrical parade...... Baroque Hoedown. Well, my boyfriend turned to me and asked, "Why are they playing the underpants gnomes song?" At first I looked at him like he was crazy, then I began to listen to the music..... it DOES sound like the underpants gnome music from South Park. For the remainder of our vacation we walked around humming and whistling the underpants gnome song. I'm just curious.... has anyone else noticed a resemblance between the underpants gnome theme and the Mainstreet Electrical Parade theme?

Oh my god that is so funny! I never would have noticed!

They are similar, but not exactly so. Just listen to a recording of the parade music and try to sing the underpants song to it.

It's amazing when people want to hear a song in some other song.... I can swear I hear the song 'Superfreak' in Hammer's "Can't Touch This." LOL

I doubt this was done on purpose, although there have been numerous Disney parodies on South Park, .....so who knows? I think Disney parodies would make for an interesting topic as there have been many on Tinytoons, the Simpsons, and Animaniacs. I remember watching a Pinky and the Brain episode called "Brainy the Pooh." Or there was also "Joke-a-hontas" on Animaniacs. A "Little Mermaid" parody on Tiny Toons where they were all singing "Beneath the Ocean" instead of Under the Seas. There was also a parody of the old "Wonderful World of Color" show on Tiny Toons. Baba was flying around a castle ala tinkerbell. However, she had a bazooka to launch fireworks around the castle and ended up blowing the castle. Then, the episode parodied Disney's True Life Adventures with a story called "The Cat That Thought He Was a Hammerhead Shark." It had the monotone narration just like the True Life Adventures. And who can forget "Sherry Bobbins" on the Simpsons and "Itchy and Scratchy Land." Ah, the list could go on and on.
