Mouseinfo.com has a picture of the new sign that is up in front of space mt. I think it looks really nice. Any other opinions?

Hmmm....nothing about it seems very exciting to me. However, I am not really sure what I expected, either. It's been so hard to have my all-time favorite childhood ride closed for so long....maybe my expectations for any sort of unveiling has gotten too high. Either way, I will ride it and love it I am certain! April 19th - yahoo!!!

I know just about everyone will think I'm crazy for even thinking it could be possible, but I really hope one of the May 5th surprises is Space Mountain...

Hey, I can dream... just let me!!!

Up until a few visits ago CMs were saying Space Mountain would be back for 05-05-05. However, the last 2 visits we made the consensus of the CMs was that Space Mountin wasn't going to reopen until July 17. I'm with you on HOPING that it opens early!!

For a two year hiatus I believe WDI could have done much better than that sign. Let's hope the inside is better. Maybe there are some cool effects that I can't see in the picture or something, but as of now.........

It actually looks pretty good...simple yet sharp (especially at night) ...very much like the original giving it a "hey im back" kinda gig. It almost is nostalgic...

The eye roll

Joined mouseinfo just for this and the sign IMHO still is not very flattering. It has a 80's look to it. If I didn't know any better I would have thought it was from that time period. They could have done better.
I think it's legal to do this. Here's the link.

I wonder what the old sign looked like? The first time I went to DL was August 2003 and Space Mountain had already been shut down.

I can't wait for this to open! I am not the biggest fan of SM, but I am excited to go on the new ride and also to have more high-capacity rides open.

Here is a picture of the sign at night that you don't have to sign up to view. Go to the very bottom of the page.

You're not a screamer, are you? Sometimes it fun riding next to screamers on roller coasters. CoasterChickie should know something about sitting next to screamers.

If it'll make you feel any better, when it opened there was a very dynamic sign with red letters extending out from the wall and they were Helvetica and that face was designed in the '50s so it was 20 years behind the times from the jump.

{ponders when Space Mountain was closed down for refurbishment} It's been about two years or so since I last went on the ride.
