Speculation on Toy Story Mania lines

Our next trip is planned for the middle of June. From what I've read, Toy Story Mania will open the week before. Considering that the ride is in DCA (the red-headed step child of Disney parks), what do you think lines will be like?

The official date of opening is now June 17th, per a Disneyland Resort Press Release that was sent out this afternoon.

The queue plan has a wrap around to the entrance of Ariel's Grotto when it is at "maximum". (Entrance near Mr. Potato Head) The ride was designed to help bring locals into the park, and have them repeat the ride multiple times in the "shooting" competition. Expect long lines at TSM! for the summer, but thast should help make all the other attractions have smaller queues.

Is there any fact/speculation about TSM being a fast pass attraction (or not)?

Looking forward to planning another Disney Adventure!

I'm curious about this too, we'll be there June 16th - 18th. I've never been at DLR when a new ride has just opened up. In the past has a new attraction opening just created crazy long lines for the new attraction, or does it really bump up lines/crowds throughout the resort?

The 17th is our first day in the parks, and my second son's 5th birthday. At least I can hope for TSM to pull people away from Nemo.

I would base it on Astro Blasters and the Subs, which had long lines the first year, but it is ha high capacity ride, much higher than the Subs, so I don't expect the line to be much longer than an hour and half. And Astro Blasters now doesn't get longer than 45 minutes, and usually is about 20 or 30. THe first two months will be the longest, but unless this ride has a major "wow" factor, I would expect the lines to fall off quicly, as the locals get their taste and move on. If the ride gets the reputation for being a stinker, the lines will fall off even faster. Or course, Buzz really isn't particularly spectatular in it's style or visiuals (mostly flat cardboard cut-outs) but it is still entertaining, so anything is possible.

Wowee... we will actually be there for the opening. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not! hahaha

I wonder if they'll open to onsite hotel guests early in the morning kind of like they do (or at least used to do) with Soarin' Over California. That would be a nice perk.

The 17th is our first day at the park as well. I am trying to figure out if i want to try to see this ride since its new, or avoid it and see if it helps keep other lines shorter and catch this ride in March when we go again.

We're definitley going to try to ride it cause I have no idea when we'll be back to DLR. With new rides with long lines, do they cut off the line at some point in the evening before park closing? One thought we had was to just wait to get in line til the end of the night ... not sure if that's really going to be an option though, any thoughts?

I totally forgot about this new attraction. DS will love this. Hopefully the crowds will be slim in mid September.

they don't cut off the lines until the park closes. I've heard of people who got in line for nemo just before midnight, and they didn't leave the park until almost 2am!

Great! I was hoping this would be the case -- we can definitely handle a late, late night our last night if we haven't already gotten it in.

Remember CA isn't open that late (9 or 10pm most nights in June), so even being the last one in line, still means you should be done well before midnight. I do hope they do same as Nemo and allow you to get on line right till park closing time. That's my plan too. From the setup it sure seems to be a high capacity loader, so maybe lines won't get up to the hour range.
