    Castle Inn?

Anyone stay at the Castle Inn recently and have a review or comment? I am currently booked at the Carousel but Getaway today has a deal on a suite at the Castle Inn that could save me $200. I kinda like the idea of the Kids Suite at the Carousel and being closer. I also like the idea of $200 to spend on food/fun at the parks...What to do, What to do?

We stayed there...my boys LOVED it! They each claimed a lion out at the front and would say hi to it on our way in or out! They also loved the lobby area. Of course they're only three and five.

That said, we got a GREAT deal - 3rd night free on getawaytoday - and we booked THREE packages - and got three nights free - we didn't have to switch rooms or anything like we knew might be possible booking like that. I don't think they have a continental breakfast - if they did, we didn't even think about it when we were there. We had a fridge and microwave.

The room we stayed in smelled a little when we got there, but we turned on the air, turned on the fridge and left for a while (the fridge was open when we got there, and we left it open, but turned it on) - and it was all good when we got back a few hours later. Also, they were great about it when I was sick and we needed a little more time to pack up the room on our way out.

It was decent...a basic motel. Nothing fancy about it. But we'd stay there again...no problems! They do have high speed internet, but we couldn't get it in our room...we were far down...and apparently it is only if you're close to the front desk. I took my lapdown down to the lobby and sat on their comfy couch and did what I needed to. Also the room seemed fairly spacious - compared to some of the rooms in other hotels around.

    Hope that helps!

We stayed at the Castle Inn in Sept 06.

    Pros:
Got a great price through Get Away Today.
    Walking distance to DL.
    Decent sized room.

    Cons:
Our room smelled musty and like chemicals the entire stay (6 nights).
The walk back at night was a bit too long for us (4 year old and 10 month old)

Something else that isn't really a con, but did bother us, was that the walkway on the 2nd floor was slanted. It made us feel like the walkway was beginning to collapse or something. We still refer to it as "the vortex."

That said, we would probably stay they again if it were a much better price than other places that close, but we would be willing to pay a little more to stay elsewhere... which is what we're doing this trip (4-13 - 4-19).

We just stayed there over Christmas - and, we got a suite near the vortex...

I have to agree with the comments. The staff was incredibly nice, but it was just a motel. Nothing too exciting.

Also, we found it hard to find parking for our car anywhere near our room. There was parking, but it seemed like they had a lot more cars then rooms.

Other - they do not have a shuttle. They are considered walking distance.

Otherwise, things were fine. Oh, and no continental breakfast.

It seems like the Castle Inn is a fine place to stay - nothing special but fine.

I am still kinda excited by the Mickey Themed bedroom in the kids suite at the Carousel. I really want to stay on-site but cannot spring for that this trip! DH likes the idea of saving $. Thanks for your help, now we will have to talk it out between us!
