Anyone use Priceline name your own price before?

It looks very enticing, accept...you dont know which hotel it will put you in. Location is a HUGE must know when booking DLand....anyone use this before and have anything they can share with me?

Also, in your opinion....where is the cheapest (but clean/comfy) place CLOSEST to Dland that you would reccommend?

We have stayed at Tropicana, Annabella, Fairfield, Desert Inn and Suites...wanting to take a quick weekend trip and not spend more than 80 a night.

    Thanks all!

I did!! Last March we booked a 5 night stay at the Carousel but we wanted to go a night earlier at the last minute. The Carousel was booked so I did Priceline name your own price.
I put in a 2 1/2-3 star rating and got the Raddison Maingate! It was a DUMP and VERY loud. I don't think we slept 2 hours that night. The floor was so dirity I made the kids wear socks so their feet didn't touch the floor.
I won't ever do Priceline Name your Own Price again. Better just finding something you want through the regular Priceline. (I book that way a lot and am very happy with that.)

I used it and it put me at the Double Tree Hotel. I hear it's nice, but far away. I'm not concerned about how far it is though. It was only $70/night. I can pay for parking.

I am too picky about where I stay at Disneyland to use Priceline.

The hotel is part of the whole experience to me. My younger son still talks about how much he liked our room at the Homewood Suites.

I have done it three times. One time I kinda messed up and got this Marriott in Anaheim Hills. It was very nice, just a little far! I wanna say it was about $45 a night.

Then I got a Hilton Suites or something which was right by The Angels stadium. It was really nice with a kitchen and living room and bedroom deal. That was about $50.

The next time I got a Hilton which was about 5 miles away. I think that was $45ish as well. As long as you have a car, I would totally do it. I have always been pleased with the quality of hotels, they just have been a little far. The last one was on ART though. One thing to keep in mind is you are only guaranteed a king bed.

There is a website biddingfortravel.com that will give you an idea of what people have won and for how much.

Why do people go on The Amazing Race without bothering to learn how to drive a stick shift?

I love Priceline. I found a site that told me how to get free rebids. I can't remember the name of now. If you want me to write it all out, pm me. I always choose 3 star. I have won the Crown Plaza, The Hyatt (Twice), and the Double Tree (by The Block Mall). I paid $44-55 a night for each of these hotels. They were all fanastic and even though they were a bit of a distance from the park, they offered free shuttle service. The only draw back to the Hyatt was you had to pay to park you car.

Make sure you specify Anaheim, I hit 3-4 stars and Anaheim and I believe surrounding areas. We ended up at the Westin South Coast plaza, fairly nice (not as nice as most Westin's) and a bit of a haul. Still a lot closer than driving from San Diego!!!!

We have used it twice for Disney trips. Both times we have stayed at the Hyatt in Garden Grove. One of the trips we payed $20 extra/night and got the kids suite. We ended up only paying $75/night. We do use Priceline almost every time we go to San Francisco.

I've done it a few times. Used to be better some years ago and we would get Hawthorne Suites for about $40 a night, never thought it was worth more but an OK place to stay.

Worst was the time I got the Candlewood, we left early and took a loss.

Other times I have gotten nicer places but never anything I would consider a bargain. Better to find a good rate on line and then have the option to change or cancel.

biddingfortravel.com gives you a lot of information. You can see exactly what hotels there are for each area at each level and you can see what people have been bidding for those hotels. Reading through the site you can find strategies for getting the best rate.

Having said that, their list of hotels is not completely accurate as priceline can add or take away hotels at any time, so you may end up somewhere you didn't expect, but that would be pretty rare.

Here is their list of hotels for the Disney areas (this represents what you are likely to get from priceline at the various levels):

    Disneyland Area

    3 Star
    Anaheim Marriott
Sheraton Park Hotel at the Anaheim Resort (formerly Coast Anaheim)
    Hilton Anaheim
    Hyatt Regency Orange County Alicante
    Sheraton Anaheim Hotel
Crowne Plaza Resort - Garden Grove
    Anabella Hotel
    Marriott Anaheim Suites
    Hilton Suites Anaheim/Orange
    Doubletree Hotel Anaheim/Orange County
Doubletree Guest Suites Anaheim Resort/Convention Center
    Radisson Maingate-Anaheim
    Holiday Inn Anaheim Resort Area

    2 Star
    Hawthorn Suites Anaheim
    Residence Inn Anaheim/Disneyland
    Jolly Roger Inn
    Portofino Inn & Suites
    Country Inn by Ayres Anaheim
    Best Value Inn & Suites
    Hilton Garden Inn
Staybridge Suites (another possible hotel; not reported yet)

    2 Star
    Candlewood Suites Orange County North
    Howard Johnson
    Travelodge International Inn
    Fairfield Inn
    Park Inn
    Best Western Anaheim Sportstown
    TownePlace Suites Anaheim
    Ramada Plaza Garden Grove

I used it last minute back in October and we ended up in Garden Grove at the Candlewood Suites for $50, it was a few miles away (which was fine since everything close was booked) and I loved the room. Super comfy bed and the kitchen area was cute even though we didn't use it. I have used biddingfortravel.com for other Priceline trips also and it's a great help! My best deal was a night at the Downtown LA Marriott for $65!

We use it ALL the time.

I have gotten GREAT rates at: Hyatt Regency Orange, Doubletree, Marriott, Holiday Inn Anaheim.

Great places--ALL of them. We just paid $45 a night at the Holiday Inn on Manchester. Nice hotel. Not like the old Holiday Inns at all. It's clean, quiet--and we could even see the DLR fireworks from our hotel room.
