Smile Million point winner at Play It! today!!

Had a very full day at the DLR today. A little bit of Disneyland, and a lot of DCA. Did several shows of Play It!, didn't make it into the "Hot Seat" today, but DH was in the #1 spot at the end of 2 shows today, so if there had been more time, he would've been there. Oh well, that's life.

While waiting to be seated in the "Ring of Fire" seat, another player started asking my DH and I about the show, how it was played, what the prizes were, etc. We told him about it, then they called us to take out seats.

This guy made it into the "Hot Seat" towards the end of one show and had to come back to finish at the next show, so we went back to watch him.

He not only started the second show he did, but WON THE MILLION POINT PRIZE!! We got to see all the balloons, confetti, etc. come down. We were so excited for him, it was almost as exciting as if we had won! Almost, but not quite!

When he was quizzing us before the show, he asked if they MADE you watch the Regis & Kelly Show, or if you could just ditch it and take the trip. We said we had no idea, but I guess he'll know for sure now!

Congratulations Dan from Palo Alto!! You did a great job in the "Hot Seat" today!!

COOL COOL COOL! I wish I could see that. How many other people have won the Million and the trip to NYC?

    Smile It's either 13 or 14

Yes, it was VERY cool!! Not quite as cool as it would've been, had it been one of us, but definitely very cool for Dan from Palo Alto!!

Depending on which cast member you ask, there have been either 13 or 14 previous winners. So the total is either 14 or 15, since they opened in September of last year.

Today was also interesting, because in one of the other shows we played, there was a THREE WAY TIE to get into the "Hot Seat"!!

They had to do a "Fastest Finger" question for a tie-breaker, but they all got it WRONG! So they had to do a SECOND "Fastest Finger" question, and then got one winner from the group of three. It was the first time we've ever seen a tie for first, let alone have it be a three-way tie, then have to go to TWO "Fastest Finger" questions to find the one winner!

Play It! was very exciting today!

I believe it's 6 winners so far, but I know someone who can answer that for sure... ooops, I just looked at his last post, and he says it's 14.

    BTT - you out there?

I do know that we have far fewer winners than WDW, which they find amusing.

    Here I am...

When I was at DCA a couple of weeks ago, the CM said that it had been 14...if what she said is correct then this would be number 15.

As for whether or not he HAS to go...for me, it was in the agreement I signed that I would be at the taping, or else I would have to pay for the whole trip. Whether that holds true for R&K I don't know, but it would seem like they would use similar language.

Do you happen to recall what his million-dollar question was, as well as his four answer options?

Smile The million point question was...

The million point question was, who was the first president born after America had achieved its independence?

    The possible answers were:

    A) Andrew Jackson
    B) Martin Van Buren
    C) John Quincy Adams
    D) Sorry, forgot this one, since I answered correctly

At the million point level, Dan had used all of his lifelines, so he GUESSED Martin Van Buren and was right!!

It was an interesting day for us, playing Play It! yesterday. We played 4 shows, I won "ring of fire" tickets for 2 of them, got to see the million point winner, saw a show that had THREE people TIE for the #1 spot, and saw our first little girl/daddy team in the hot seat!

For the three-way tie, they had to go to a tie-breaker "fastest finger" question, for just those three players. First question, they all got it wrong! So they had to go to a second tie-breaker FF question! This time, they were successful and came up with a winner. It was really funny to see the screen that usually comes up with the names and numbers come up with the message "WRONG!" We'd never seen that happen before! It gave the host "David" a lot of fodder for jokes later, so that was fun. It was also interesting to watch him handle the situation, since while we were waiting to go in before the show, for the RoF seat, we met his mother, who had come to watch him host!

For the little girl/daddy team, a very young child had made it to the #1 spot and they told her she could bring a parent with her into the hot seat, to help her answer the questions. Pretty amazing to me that she made could hit the right buttons the fastest, since there were about 600 in that audience, and she wasn't even old enough to read!! They even had to get a box for her to climb up on, so she could get up into the hot seat chair!

I much prefer to watch adults make it into the hot seat.

Has anyone else noticed that they've changed the show? They no longer play the Regis tape.

Who is your favortie host or hostess? I've seen a blonde woman most often and she hosted the day I played and got all the way to 32,000. But I can't remember her name!

The world is a theme park and we are the attractions.

    Smile That would be Elise!

The blond female host/floor manager is Elise. She's funny, but we enjoy Ellen the best of the female hosts. She's very low-key when it's her turn to be floor manager, so we like her much better as the host with glasses. Elise can be a bit too cynical/irreverant at times, her voice is really nasal and grating, both as host and FM, where as Ellen is much better with her ad-libs with players, as host.

Of the males, we've seen Mark, Jordan, David, and the taller blond guy, whose name escapes me at the moment. Anybody know?

Our favorite male host so far is Mark (MY hot seat host!), followed closely by David, especially after his great job of hosting yesterday, with the million point winner and the three-way tie! We were totally surprised by his turn as floor manager. He's much more hyper as a FM and looks much younger, when he's not wearing a suit, especially with the baseball hat hiding his bald spot.

We both appreciate that the pre-show Regis video and fake flowers walk-thru by a CM has been dropped at present. That really only works once, then you're in on it, and it just makes it seem to take longer to get the show started. It's funny tho, to still hear "Mary's" taped communications with the FM CMs, especially since they still "answer" her! We're hoping they keep the pre-show as it is now, without a new video or other things.
