Fort Wilderness Renovations

I just went to the Florida Supershow RV Convention at the Florida State Fairgrounds and met the General Manager of Fort Wilderness. It seems they are doing a 3-5 year renovation project, which will include a new pool area in the next year and a half! The promotional material included pictures of the resort in Hilton Head as possible inspiration and will include a slide and a hot tub. Of course, I've heard these rumors for years, but this is the first time I've heard someone in management talk about it with a huge display on the renovations. Also, it seems they will be adding another level of campsite, featuring wider and longer sites, and Jean even mentioned that they would be adding about a dozen new sites!

COOL!!! The pool area has needed a upgrade for awhile. Hope we'll see more info on this project as it developes.

Is this supposed to be a new pool or an upgrade of the Meadows pool?...I have always wondered why they have never renovated the pool at River Country...even though the water park itself is no longer usable....

In reference to site renovations, we are staying in the 1000 loop this week. There are surveyors already at work here.....the one I talked to said they were laying out larger sites to accomodate the larger rv's that have become common in the last several years....Don't know if this is going to be specific sites in loops throughout Fort Wilderness or if they are going to completely redo certain whole loops....??....

I personally wish they would add more than just a dozen sites....pretty tough to get in here on short notice anymore....maybe a whole new campground would be nice!!!!!
