Am I reading 59.00 per person correctly?? Does that seem a bit HIGH??

All of the prices at TI are outrageous. For example, the lowest price entree on their dinner menu is Lasagna at $24.00 (compared to $20.50 for Alfredo's), while if you want a Cannoli for dessert it will set you back $12.00. And all their side dishes at $10.00 each.

I checked out the menu, because I will soon be making AR's for our June trip, and it also struck me as very expensive, for what you get. The food just does not seem that special, to justify the price, especially for the pasta. We'll pass, unless I hear some fantastic reviews of the place. If the family style dining will leave a lot of leftovers, like at the Buca di Beppo chain, I might try it for a trip when we will be staying at a one-bedroom DVC villa, so we could easily store, heat, and eat another meal out of it., which might justify the price.
Has anyone eaten here and feels it is worth it...

I think the people on the dining plan like it - after all, who cares what the menu price says if you're using 1 table service credit. I think they figure they'll fill up with dining plan guests, so the rest of us cash payers who won't pay those ridiculous prices are no loss.
I hope this isn't a trend- meant to force people into the dining plan in order to "save" money on their meals. Next we'll see a counter service chicken strips meal for $17.50....but the soda is extra

The dining plan could create two classes of restaurants. They may increase the price on buffet and family style places, to encourage dining plan traffic. I would think that it is more profitable to push a lot of people through buffets, where you can put in a lot of inexpensive dishes, and there is less cost involved with creating individual plates. Even a place like Boma has a lot of interesting food, that does not involve a lot of overhead. They may make more places that serve individual courses into signature dining places.
I hope that isn't the case, but we'll see. I don't want a dining plan. Too much food for me. Perhaps they could offer a less expensive "light plan" for those who eat less or are watching their weight.
I heard on a podcast they will be closing it again this spring 2008, to re-do it into yet again another new Italian restraunt. Anyone heard this?
It's in Mark's update today on MousePlanet. They didn't do the big remodel/etc when they closed down Alfredo's, so that's what they're going to do with this upcoming closure.

That's been the plan all along, The permanent owner wasn't ready to take over, and Alfredo's was finished with their contract. So Disney decided to open it as Tutto Italia for the interim. I didn't bother eating there on my visit last week, as it was just going to go away anyway. I will be trying the new permanent version next year, though.

We had dinner at Tutto Italia Ristorante last week. It was the best dinner I have ever had at Disney World (I've been 12 times over the last 20 years) The lasagna was incredible! We all had the mussels for appetizer - wow - they melted in your mouth. Great food, great service. We were on the dining plan, so price was not an issue.
