Apparently Pressler is on the "short list" for an exectutive position with AOL!

While everyone is asking Santa Claus for an early Christmas present, has anyone considered that a replacement for Paul Pressler could be worse than what y'all think about him? Everyone seems to assume that *anyone* would be better. A dangerous assumption to make...
I say we start the "Instate Al Lutz as President of Disney Theme Parks Campaign"Originally posted by cstephens

.
Good Lord I just about had a cow. Al Lutz? Running Disney theme parks? Now that's rich. That would be like putting Saddam Hussein in charge of the U.S. military.

While, I don't have any strong opinions on Paul Pressler myself, this seems a weak line of reasoning for keeping him (if starting from an assumption that he is bad at the job).
It is one thing for someone to think that he is actually fair at his job, but of course someone else could be worse. No matter how bad somebody is at a job, there is always somebody out there who could be worse. If that were used as the reason for keeping a known bad employee then nothing could ever improve.
I'm sorry, I must have missed something. Where exactly did I say that my statement was a support for keeping him?Originally posted by Alex Stroup

I have no opinion on Paul Pressler as I don't care enough to find out information about him myself. I've heard what lots of other people have said about him third, fourth and fifth hand, but it seems silly to rely on "I heard someone say they heard someone else say this", and then pretend I'm coming up with my own opinion.
It just seems funny to me that so many people go with the assumption that his leaving will automatically make things better.
YES. Getting rid of Pressler is HALF the solution. WDCo. can still do that part right and then mess up the other half by replacing him with an even worse choice. Let's hope and pray that Eisner and the Board of Cronies get the right person - one who will return the parks to a leadership position not just at the turnstiles (I'm unaware of any time when the competition took over the top spot here) but in the areas of show quality and innovation. Someone who understands that cutting corners helps the boat go faster, but only until it sinks from all the holes you put in it to reduce drag. This could be the beginning of the turnaround. Sadly it could also be the beginning of the end. I hope we have cause to celebrate rather than mourn sometime in the next few weeks.Originally posted by cstephens
