At the website is says: AUHSD Leadership Conference November 16th. Not that that is the true reason for the non avalibility of the hotels. You can try to call a few of those hotels and ask if they know why they are booked and if there is anything special going on that weekend. I have done that before and both hotels I called knew exactly what was going on. Good luck and go anyway and have fun!!

Every Day Is Disneyland Day!
It is the official start of Xmas this year. And a lot of schools now are getting the whole week before Thanksgiving off, so you are likely seeing the start of the Thanksgiving holiday rush.

Schools are really getting the whole week? Must be a CA thing because it isn't an AZ or ID thing. I decided to call Desert Inn & Suites to see if they knew and he did say that there was a small convention but that people were getting there for Thanksgiving. I had always thought that it didn't get busy at DL until Wed. or Thur. I guess times change. I guess we won't be going because I really don't want to go when it is busy. Problem is, it seems like it always is busy lately, even when it shouldn't be.

i had checked the la unified school district and the oc school district websites and they are in school until the day of thanksgiving. so hopefully thats good news for us who are going nov 16-20th, right?

SOME schools are starting to get that whole week, not ALL schools. It is hit and miss around here locally.

There are a LOT of school districts in OC and I know several schools in Anaheim alone are off for that whole week, did you check them ALL? And LA has a lot more districts besides just LAUSD. But it is more the out of town kids that create the crowd because they stay all week.
Plus, a lot of year-round schools go off-track that week as well.

no, i didn't check them ALL. i am not from the area but i did check the school websites that were listed on the los angeles unifed school district and the ones on the o.c. unified school district websites. but since i did not see any schools listed on those sites as being off i didn't expand the search for a complete detailed list of ALL schools in the greater los angeles and orange county and surrounding areas or san diego or the rest of the country.

I went to the San Diego USD website and they have the week off.

You must have checked the Orange City unified school district... I was trying to figure out what you were referring to because there is no such thing as the Orange COUNTY USD. Each city pretty much has at least one disctrict of their own, some have more, and they all operate separatly, voting on their own calendars and holidays. We are a little different than LAUSD. Hopefully that helps... there are local schools that will be off, but like I said, it is hit and miss.

Well since the hotels are booked don't be looking at the locals for the reason things are booked (although they will most likely add to crowds to see the Christmas decorations/parade/fireworks). Many of the northern CA schools are off all week and I know A LOT of peoplem, us included who are heading down for the week. It is a busy time of year, the parks open early and close late, which shows Disney expects high crowds too. We plan on taking it easy and not stressing about the crowds. With my husband being a teacher, we only go during busy weeks, so we are used to crowds.

One key factor, Disney has scheduled Maximum hours and entertainment from Friday, November 16th thru Sunday, November 25th. The ONLY reason that Disney would decide to spend so much money on labor and other costs is the fact that they expect very large crowds each and every day during the 10 days.
If they expected smaller crowds on the few days before Thanksgiving, then the schedule would reflect lesser hours, and they don't.
So it clearly shows that Disney expects very large crowds for the entire period.
