Did the kid hurt him in some way? Wonder if he got in trouble with his lead?

Maybe he was playing around with the kid?

1- If there was a handler, we don't see that person. And that woman pushed him. Where was security?

2- We don't see what the kid did to Pluto. Again, where was the handler? I don't know why Pluto was chasing the kid but I want to know IF the kid did anything to Pluto. It may or may not change my opinion of the situation.

Either Pluto was out of line or he was reacting to something the child did to him, or both. In any case, where's the handler because that's not fair to the character or the guests.

    Wow...
Not sure what happened, but (with humor) what was Pluto going to do if he caught up with the kid? I was rather surprised (and glad) that no one got ran over in the process.

I agree that this kind of display is NOT fair to the guests and/or Pluto himself.

You know, at first I sorta doubted that possibility, but take a look at what the kid is doing after his mom (?) gets into it with Pluto.

The kid who was being chased quickly circles back. He doesn't act frightened at all and, in fact, sort of steps out towards pluto while he's walking away. I would think that he would keep his distance if he was truly being chased for something he did to the character.

I really think they're just playing around...if ya notice the mom has a video camera in her hand as she is pushing Pluto and chastising him... lol

I would think the people around the area would be freaking out a bit more and not just taking videos and pictures if Pluto was going postal on some kid.

You know, the second look at this vid does not look like Pluto was playing at all! He was running like he was gonna kill the kid! It's a good thing the lady grabbed his arm! That was the funny part!!! GOOD VIDEO! BAD PLUTO!!!

Looks like 2 CM's standing next to the circle fence just checking things out!!!

Any way you look at it, a CM in costume should never be running that fast in a crowded area. It doesn't matter if the kid did something mean or if Pluto was just playing - it went too far.

Unfortunately, I see lots of characters without their handlers. And there have been plenty of times when the handlers aren't paying attention to what is going on; they seem to be in la la land.

Yes, but looking at the video, the mother went into major "scolding" mode. her poor baby was being harassed for being a brat, and he got called on it. The kid deserved what he was getting. More power to Pluto! Shame on the mother.

Bytebear, that may or may not be. But I can't see ANY situation that would warrant a character, in full costume with limited visibility, to run that fast through a crowded plaza. The kid might have been a brat, and might have provoked something. But if I were the parent I sure would have stepped in and stopped Pluto from that mad dash. Whether she actually pushed him or whether it was a kind of a back slap that happened just at the wrong time as Pluto was stepping on the curb is unknown.

Supposedly from comments I read on Youtube (so I am not sure how true it is), the boy kicked him in the "No-No Zone" while the mom videotaped it.

It might be the truth, it might not.

But notice she didn't grab her running son. She let him go hog wild, but only stopped Pluto from persuing him. I can see Pluto being somewhat playful running around, and maybe it got excessive, or maybe he was steamed and wanted to teach the kid a lesson, or at least show him there are ramification to his actions. The mother undermined all of this by protecting her son and chastizing the CM. She should have grabbed her son, gave him a good swift swipe to the behind and told him to stop being a brat. Then Pluto would have stopped the persuit, and not been pushed to the ground.

Did you notice Pluto gave up when she grab his arm? He was walking away from her when she shoved him. I have seen Pluto play tag many times at the park. With kids and with other CM. In the vid there are CM standing around watching. I think this as a game of tag and the mom was having problem controlling the kid so she took it out on Pluto.

I don't really care what prompted Pluto to freak out. The point is his/her behavior is totally aggressive and erratic. It looked to me to be totally inappropriate and dangerous behavior in a crowd of peope. Again, regardless of what the kid did (kid being the key word here) a costumed adult needs to show some restraint. That is just crazy!!!!

If the kid did something wrong, I am not condoning that. But adults have to respond and act like adults!

Something to think about - has the video been sped up? I know on someone's youtube video of a Storybook ride with my DDs spiel it was much faster than the boat really travels. I've never seen a character with the oversize feet travel that fast, so I'm skeptic of its true depiction of what occured.

Anyone know WHEN this happened? Seems it would've been on the local news & I haven't seen anything. I'll watch the news tonight.

Question here about inappropriate behavior towards a character ....

What happens to guests .. children or adults .. who inappropriately assault the characters? I am talking about mean things like kicking them in painful areas, yanking on them, shoving them down as this lady did? (Falling off a curb can be very dangerous.) Does the "customer is always right" attitude prevail or are the guests warned or escorted off the property?
