    Old Country Bear Jamboree question

My husband seems to remember that the Country Bear Jamboree had some of the characters from Song of the South in it before they got their own "spot" in Splash Mountain. This is a memory from his childhood, so it's a bit foggy . . . maybe somebody can clear it up. Anyone remember?

The "Song of the South" characters were from "America Sings", located in what is now Innovations. It was a trip through American folk music. My memory is also foggy, but I believe it was hosted by Sam the Eagle, the paddle wheel at the end of Splash Mountain was the set for the grand finale.

I'm only familiar with the WDW version which I think was identical, but the only characters are the bears, the raccoon when Henry sings Davy Crockett & the deer, bison & moose on the wall. Nothing from America Sings to my knowledge...

Basically, as Walt'sbirthdaygirl described, when "America Sings" was closed, the majority of those animatronic characters were recycled and installed into Splash Mountain. I think all of the "Country Bear Jamboree" characters were unique to the attraction.

Your husband might like to read Yesterland's pages on Country Bear Jamboree and America Sings.

I may be mistaken but I believe Splash and Bear Country both were operating at the same time for several years, so I think would preclude any of the Bear characters from being put into Splash, as Splash already had a full cast.

While doing a little research on this topic, I did discover an interesting bit of trivia........according to wikipedia, two of the goose characters from America Sings were stripped of thier "outer skin" (leaving only their metal frame) and put into the Star Tours queue as the "talkative" droids!

Disney does love to recycle don't they?

Thanks! We'll check out the website. He remembers the stuff being at Innoventions - he just thought they were at Country Bear Jamboree first. No, those bears never moved to Splash Mountain. Interesting bit about the geese!

    Thanks so much!

    and, yes . . . GO MARINERS!

Cool website (yesterland). My husband and I read through most of the old attractions and he kept going, "yep, yep, I remember that . . ." (he's a California boy) Even some of the things I saw on my first trip to DL in 2001 are already gone. Wow.

Thanks for all the information. His memory isn't so foggy anymore. Well, on this subject at least!
