Did Anyone Go to the Pirate Princess Party This Week?

We will be going to the Pirate Princess party next week and I am wondering if anyone out there went this week? If you did, how was it? How were the crowds and what time did you go into the park? (Kids are getting very excited to go back to their favorite vacation spot.)

I've never been to the Pirate party either and I was hoping someone would answer your question. Should we eat dinner before? Do we eat there?
    We are going Sept. 3rd.

I'm assuming it's set up a lot like the Halloween and Christmas parties as far as eating. Personally, I'd try to eat before hand, if that works for your 'feeding times'. There are CS restaurants open during the parties, but A - the information on the maps isn't always correct on which locations ARE open and B - they aren't ALL open. You can arrive before the official start time (historically 4:30ish, I think), so you could eat beforehand in the parks, or use it to try out a monorail resort's restaurant. (A couple of years ago we waited until between the fireworks and second parade to eat, but had a drink at the GF lounge before hand, that was really nice for my sister and I (no kids))

We went on the 11th and the crowds were'nt bad at all. Did'nt have to wait but a few mins for just about every ride. The only lines we really ever encountered were for Jack Sparrow and then for Pirate Mickey/Minnie. But well worth it after seeing them. And those waits honestly were'nt longer then about 25 mins.. The fireworks are beyond fantastic!! You can see them from anywhere in the park. So don't worry about trying to get a specific spot. And the parades where great from what we saw of them!! LOL Kids had too many things going to sit still that long.

Candynco I'd deffinately make sure to eat before getting to the parks. Your going to be trying to do everything in there and honestly just won't want to waste the time you have to sit down and eat!

We went last night. We got there around 6, and had a counter service meal at Cosmic Rays, and were finished eating right when the festivities started. We did costumes, as did a lot of people. The fireworks were spectacular. The parade was nice, and my husband got a kick out of the "Royal Pooper Scooper" who followed the horses (it reminded us of the character at the end of the credits for the old Bullwinkle cartoons). My husband and younger daughter left after the fireworks, and my older daughter and I stayed almost until midnight. It was like evening extra magic hours, without the crowds. Most of the rides were walk ons, or nearly so, and we got to do a lot of things. Yesterday, on a bus I talked to a woman whose daughter is a CM, and her daughter told her the guy they have playing Jack Sparrow is a dead-ringer for Johnny Depp. She was right. He was on the POTC float and he really did look like him. It was fun.

I was there on Tuesday evening. Essentially this and any other party will see smaller crowds during the week than on the weekend...especially in late August and early September when the kids return to school.

How sparse was the crowd? Well, we went on Pirates six times and all but one time we had a boat all to ourselves...no waiting.

I still think that the MNSSHP is probably the best party, followed by MVMCP.

I went on Friday night and thanks to the bad thunderstorms, it was somewhat disappointing. Thankfully, it stopped raining in time for the fireworks and second parade. The first parade was canceled, and in the second parade, they left out the horses, probably because of lightning. And I didn't get to see any of the special shows either, which I really loved last time. I got a good amount of loot, but it just wasn't as fun. And I didn't get on a single ride. Oh there were no crowds at all, and once the rain stopped it was good. Just know that if it is thunderstorming, you may want to go another night.

Last night, at the airport, I talked to a couple who had gone both Tuesday and Friday nights. They were able to compare the fireworks and parade, having seen the complete version on Tuesday. On Friday night, I actually said to my husband that I felt for the people doing P&P that night. It would be quite a disappointment if you had tickets for the thunderstorm affected night, at the end of your vacation.

my sister and i went on firday night and had a blast! yeah it was raining and it was dissappointing that a lot was cancelled but we went on every ride we wanted to twice without wait. we only saw jack sparrow because the other characters were not out, i think they were all in special inside spots. but the line for jack was only 5 min and we were able to go on with our night. as far as whether or not to eat before DO IT! we ended up at cosmic rays and they had nothing vegitarian, i had to pick the chicken out of a salad. there were a million cast members around helping but the manager said the only thing he could think of for me as far as counter service was a veggie burger. i must say they really tried to get everything off and the parade was wet but awsome. yeah it put a damper on things but it was well worth it and we got there at 7:30.

I'm glad you had fun, princess21! The thing for me was, I wasn't going for the rides. I was going for all the special shows and characters that you don't get to see otherwise, and I didn't see any of them. The highlights of the party when I went in March were seeing the cool shows, such as Jasmine's Royal Guard Training and cool characters like Cinderella's stepsisters and stepmother, who were absolutely hilarious. But I didn't see any characters out except the ones at the dance party areas, and no shows. Also, the parade just was not as good without the horses. I really tried to have fun anyway, but it was just not up to par. I may decide to go again this coming Friday. It better not rain!!!!!

    Thankful

^^ Just wanted to let you know I read on another board that Disney was telling people who exited late that Friday night that their ticket would be good as a one day base ticket for the following year. So you might want to check with them on that since you're moving and are planning a trip back. I don't know if it affects you or not though since you currently work for them. Do you get into the parties for free??

Hmmm, I'll have to check on that. I don't technically work for Disney, I'm an operating participant. I still have to pay for parties! Thanks for the info!

OH! Sorry for the mistake. You're welcome for the info. I hope it turns out to be true and you can benefit from it somehow.

Aaahhh. I went again tonight, and it was wonderful! No rain, hooray, although we did have a good thunderstorm in the afternoon. I got off work early and went to MGM just for fun. Right as I got on the tram, the storm hit and we all got soaked! But it eventually stopped and I dried off and decided to take the plunge again. So I went to MK about 6PM and did the party right. I saw the complete parade, it was soooo much better than last week. They really took out a lot last week. And the fireworks seemed better tonight, too. And I got to see Jasmine's Royal Guard Training and Cinderella's stepsisters and stepmother, perfectly in character! And I got lots of loot. Even more this week, as I was able to walk faster since I didn't have to worry about slipping on the wet ground! I was very happy and had a great time, more than made up for last week! Oh, and I went on Jungle Cruise when I first got to the park, and the CM was awesome, really funny and energetic. When we went through "Shirley's Temple" he sang small world in an eerie voice! Hee hee. And I actually went on some rides tonight too! No lines, yay!

We were there on Friday for that awful storm too. I also was disappointed. My kids 5 and 6 were so terrified of the lightening that we weren't able to stay for the parade. We actually rode It's a Small World 3x without getting off during the really bad part of the storm. My husband and my sister's family stayed and said it was good.

I was also disappointed when at 7pm the treasure spot at Pinnochio's wasn't ready. We were standing in the rain waiting to go in and we weren't allowed. A manager came over and apologized--we were allowed in about 10 after.

It seems like it's a lot of fun weather permitting. A few cast members said that the storm came out of no where and they weren't prepared for how bad it would be.

One highlight is Jack Sparrow. He was great. My daughter is still talking about meeting the "real" Jack.

    Lightbulb Extra Magic Hours

Has anyone who is not staying on premise been able to stay for the PM extra magic hours. If you are at Epcot and plan to have dinner late, are you allowed to stay in the park or are you aked to leave. We plan to have a late dinner.......no rides or attractions. Can this be done?

What's MNSSHP and MVMCP? We're trying to decide on going to the P&P on 2/9 Sat or 2/14 Thurs. If we decide to go on 2/9, that'll be our first day and we'll probably be goign on an early flight. My only concern is our kids (daughter - 4 yr old and 2-yr old son) maybe too tired.

Our other option to go on 2/14--which would be our last day (or would have to adjust our trip to make the 14h our last day).

What do you think would be better? 2/9 or 2/14?

MNSSH = Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party
MVMCP = Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

personally, i love, love, love MNSSH. really can't stand MVMCP (and i've gone the past couple of years) - nothing you can't get elsewhere without having to buy a separate ticket except for the phenomenal parade but even that's not so great at night.

but loved P&PP. a very close #2 to MNSSH in my opinion. tons of special characters/costumes (alien stitch, sebastian and prince eric were highlights for me).

BradK those pictures are fantastic! I'll be at the world in 46 days and will be attending the Pirate & Princess Party on Feb 22. Does anyone know if the PhotoPass Photographers will be on hand to take pics or is everything done with personal cameras? It makes sense that they would be there but I don't want to assume. I'm purchasing the CD and want to get the most for my $$$$

    thanks.
