Planning DVD [this year's vs. last year's]

Is it just me, or was last year's planning dvd much better than this year's?

Would you care to elaborate a little on your observations?

I really liked last year's dvd b/c it showed what activities were best for the not so sure he wants to be there dad type (eating around the world, water sports) as well as teens and preschoolers. It was funny and very informative. I dislike all the wish segments in this year's video - I'd rather be learning about Disney.

I wholeheartedly agree! This year's DVD is boring, overly produced and lacks that special something that usually makes watching these planning DVDs fun. The DVDs from the two years previous to the current one are virtually the same, although the latter includes Expedition Everest and a couple of the other newer rides; just before my trip in June I watched the older DVD's over and over, just to get psyched up for the trip. Now that I can get Stacy on Google, I'll just watch her whenever I want to get my Disney fix. I wish they'd get her to do the next planning DVD!

    1999 - Coronado Springs (1 night); 2003 - DL's Paradise Pier (5 nights); 2005 - All Star Music (7 nights); 2007 - POP Century (10 nights); 2008 - DL's Paradise Pier (5 nights); 2009 - POP Century (10 nights); 2010 - Dolphin (2 nights); 2011 - POP Century (7 nights); June 8-18, 2012 - POFQ (10 nights); next trip,June 18-22, 2013 - POFQ (5 nights). If I'm not at Walt Disney World or Disneyland, I'm not really happy.

Another wholehearted agreement here! The "interludes" detracted from the video. Sorry Joe from Tacoma, but I'm not horribly moved by your 45 second recap of the Tea Cups (or whatever the heck they were saying). Those things to me are super cheesy because you know they are actors, half of whom probably never even visited WDW. I know the people in the other video are actors too, but at least they're there riding the rides!

As much as I love the last planning video, I have to say that I find Luke mildly annoying, and a little more than slightly dorky. "Primo supreme-oo!"

I am in total agreement! This years DVD stinks! I was sooo looking forward to it [just got mine on Tuesday] and was extremely dissappointed in it. Even my 5 year old daughter who lives for things like that got up and walked away before it was over!

I completely agree. My now 4 year old daughter would sit forever and watch last years dvd, and was so excited to get another Disney World movie in the mail but only watched part of it once!!

My boyfriend's never been to Disney, so I've made him sit through last year's DVD several times... I got this years in the mail about a week ago, we turned it on and about fifteen minutes later turned it off; he said last years was a lot more fun and this year's made him feel like he was being lectured. I have yet to sit through the whole thing... Maybe I'll get around to it one of these days, but it just seems SO boring.

I'm very sorry to hear all of this. I got mine in the mail a couple days ago, and was looking forward to seeing it this weekend. I really enjoyed last year's video (MMMmmmm, ERIN!!!!), although I agree that mondo-dude Luke didn't quite pull it off. Still, a very good effort, with lots of great info for the first timer.

I've been collecting these things since the mid-90's, and outside of last year's, they seem to be in a steady decline with regards to that Disney magic that we're all looking for. Maybe the program producers need to actually VISIT WDW for a few days and clue in on the vibe???

I'm SO glad it wasn't just me!!

I was excited to get mine in the mail a couple of weeks ago. And then I popped it into the DVD player. I found this "planning" DVD to be a horrible waste of time! It was a huge commercial with no useful planning tips that aren't already found on the park website. The video left me wondering, "What's the point?".

I think I expected something more along the lines of the show the Travel Channel did on WDW. That show did a great job to break down what was in each park, a little detail about the rides and attractions, etc. I was shocked that the Disney-produced DVD was so horribly disappointing.

I just watched it today. It's not at all about content or information - it's all about image. It was put together very well, but not much substance to it.
