My Mickey's out of juice! [watch battery]

The last time down to WDW, the little Mrs. bought me a beautiful Skagen Mickey watch from the World of Disney stote at DTD.

The Battery just died............and depression has set in. I took it to the local jewler who looked at me like I had two heads when I showed him the watch. Apparently, Skagen is not a well known brand in the states, as it is made in Denmark.

Does anyone know if they would have batteries in the World of Disney store or anywhere else in WDW, or do they just sell the watches? I'm sure it's all it needs, but finding the elusive power cell is becoming quite frustrating....

Maybe I should call in Buzz Lightyear.....I'll bet the Evil Emporer Zurg knows what kind of battery I need

They MIGHT sell batteries in DTD - but I wouldn't count on it. I'm almost positive they don't in the parks - I tried to get one in the studios and ended up buying a cheapo watch when mine died on vacation.

I'm kind of surprised that the watch battery would be that different, though. One of my local malls has a place that just does batteries for watches (I think that's all they do) - maybe see if you've got something similar?

I know what you mean, though, about the depression. The clasp on my Mickey watch has 'worn out' so much that it will spontaneously open when I'm wearing it, so I can't wear it any more (though I do have a backup counterclockwise Goofy, and a 'nice' backup - my Goofy is on a black leather band, though, and I don't like to wear it in the summer.)

Thanks Drince, you're probably right. I've just thought of the only two places that MIGHT do batteries:

The World of Disney store in DTD, or that cool watch store on main street in MK (the custom watch place).

Anyone know if they replace watch batteries?

From my personal experience, I dont think that its the idea that no one heard of Skagen watches, but the idea that they will not work on them because they have no way to fix if they break it. The waterproofing is also a concern as well. That is the line I got when I tried to get a battery on my 75 Years of Mickey watch which was made by Fossil.

I found that when it comes to this sort of thing, you have to go to a Jeweler who is either a dealer of that product or one that does custom work and not afraid to open it..

Then there is always going right to Skagen for the battery. (Link)

All I have to say is that I love my Skagen watch and plan on getting another one during my next trip.

The search function is like the Force. It may take practice, but the more you use it, the more control you will have over it!

I just tracked down the battery for a Disney watch I bought at Epcot.

I would open up the watch, take the battery out, and closely examine it to find it's product number and voltage. You may need a magnifying glass. Look the number up in Google. You should be able to find a replacement that way.

I ordered two replacement batteries for mine and they cost about $4 for both plus shipping. A place in the mall wanted to charge me $10 for just one though it included installing it. A jeweler would charge even more.

Skagen is very popular here, ive been wearing them for years. I have gone to dillards and they sometimes have spare batteries, and once they were more then willing to just replace it then and there with no charge

My father bought a mickey watch when he went in 2003, and sometime in 2004 it gave up. He took it to a local jewellers (in the UK) and they said that they were unable to replace the battery. When I returned to WDW in February 2005 I took it with me to get a replacement. I took it to the jewellery counter in the big Disney shop in Downtown Disney and the lady said that she was unable to replace the battery. She didnt offer a reason and simply replaced the watch. Now I did consider this to be excellent customer service as he had purchased the watch in October 2003, but what happens when the next battery dies?

They have Skagen up here too at Nordstrom and I think Macy's. I second the idea of going to the jeweler.

Working hard for that next WDW trip! December 2013
