For the first time in 14 years, I am thinking of staying off-site as the Disney prices keep going up. Has anyone ever stayed at the Embassy Suites in Lake Buena Vista (it's supposed to be right off I4 near Downtown Disney). I'd also appreciate any other recommendations.

    Thank you!

I love staying in the Lake Buena Vista area hotels. We stayed at the Residence Inn in February 2000. Unfortunately, that complex has been sold. We also stayed at the Clarion Suites, Lake Buena Vista. Many of the 2 to 3 bedrooms have full kitchens, continental breakfast delivered to your room, washer/dryer! They offered discounts (call the national toll free number rather than the hotel) for AAA, Govt. employees (on non official travel), and AARP.

I have stayed there many times it is a great hotel and It is the best off-site hotel and is pretty close to the parks.

    Hi Nutz4Clopin.....

    How are ya....

I've stayed in various places off-site and a few that I'd reccommend are :

The Holiday Inn Family Suites, themed suites with free breakfast daily. This property is fairly new (2 years old I believe) It's located directly across from The Marriott World Center (huge white hotel) The rates are very reasonable.

The Caribe Royale, again an all suites, moderately priced hotel with a great pool!

The Buena Vista Suites (the Caribe's sister property) located diagonal to the Caribe also offers all suites at a reasonable price.

    Hope this helps you out.

Feel free to e-mail me with any questions.

    Take care,

    Bob

    Cool

Like Bobcat said, Caribe Royale is a great hotel with an included breakfast buffet, a beautiful main building, and an amazing, huge pool with a slide. It is very affordable compared to the WDW on-property resorts and gives you a large two-room suite with two queen size beds and a pull-out sofa. These rooms are great for families of up to five or six.

Buena Vista Suites is the older, not as luxurious version of Caribe Royale. The pool is not as nice, the lobby is small, and the rooms are a bit smaller, but the breakfast is basically the same and you can still easily fit 5-6 people. This hotel is also a bit less expensive.

The location of these hotels is actually perfect, closer to some parks than some on-property resorts as a matter of fact. Good luck on choosing lodgings and have fun at WDW!

    Cool

Thanks for all the great replies. Now here is a question, Bobcat & Matt -

    So what do you think?

Which hotel is better the Caribe Royale or Embassy Suites at Lake Buena Vista? I still have plenty of time to make a final decision.

I've got one reservation at the Embassy and can always make one at the Caribe too.

My boss stayed at the Caribe a few months ago for a convention and wasn't thrilled - but he is used to staying at posh places like the Yacht & Beach Club not the moderate places like I do!

Embassy Has Such A Good Rep!

    Hi Clopin -
Yes, back from the Beach and planning WDW bigtime - 6 weeks to go. My profile now ok to get e-mail & I'd LOVE to get your AK input! Thanks in advance!
Now - the important stuff - Embassy has a great rep and my Dad has stayed all over in their mountain properties-(skier). I always think that with the chain you have a known quality w/ predictable standards. Also - I read all the WDW message boards and read everything anybody's ever posted on a specific property. Of course, I am NUTS myself!
When is your trip, lucky you?
