That could have been from the party that they had there on the 10th.

They were projecting a sort of water reflection onto the Matterhorn that night.

and frankly - what would digital light projection systems have to do with proving that the peoplemover is coming back? seems rather a stretch.. Yes, many sites have rumored that it's next on the list of things for tomorrowland - but sheesh! The subs' have just opened... It will be at LEAST 2 years before you see anything...

I can confirm, from just looking at the picture, that these were temporary lighting fixtures for a special event, and have nothing to do with the people mover. Nice wish, though . . .

Why did they take the people mover out?

They took it out to put in the Rocket Rods, a high speed thrill ride. Unfortunately budget cuts virtually guaranteed that the Rods would fail - mechanical failures all the time, very high cost of operation, etc. They closed them down after a year or so, and never opened anything up after that. Just a big ol' empty track in the sky . . .

I've never gone on the Rocket Rods. I was too young. Probably was afraid of it anyways. It sounds interesting...I wish they still had it there so I can experience it. Or better yet, the PeopleMover or the Skyway buckets! <~now those were RELAXING!!

My husband and I rode the Rocket Rods one year. We waited in line forever and the ride was very lame; over very quickly and not very exciting. It seemed like it had the potential to be cool, but it definitely wasn't actualized!
