    Beach Club vs. Yacht Club

Is there any real difference between the two hotels?

Which one is closer to Epcot?

Beach is closer to Epcot, but Yacht is closer to the dock if you're taking the boat.

I think it's minor decor differences, myself - white wood vs dark wood sort of thing.

I never went looking for the store at Yacht, but because Beach has a DVC associated with it, it might have more of the 'grocery' type items, but I don't know.

There is not much difference except for the styling, much like what Drince said. Samantha Brown, on an episode of "Great Hotels" described the BC simialr in decor as a typical New England beach club done up in colors that resemble salt water taffy. The YC's decor was more of an "Ivy League" yacht decor with darker woods, etc, but equally as nice.

Its not all that much further to Epcot from the YC - its only a couple more minutes walk.

In my opinion, the YC is a bit nicer. It has better landscaping and is closer to the pool.
The BC does have Cape May Cafe, which I give 2 thumbs up. It's maybe 2 minutes closer to Epcot.
Both are equally as far from the Boardwalk.
Its a win/win situation. You can't go wrong with either one.

I'm not sure about the BC, but the YC doesn't have any "grocery" items in its store, unless you count coke, beer, and chocolate covered pretzels.

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.

Thanks for the input to all. I booked the Yacht Club (through AAA) for $267 per night from 8/16-8/19.

I hope that when the AP/FL resident rates are released I can do a little better.

Well - that would work for me.

New Englanders might understand the difference if I said the Beach Club is more like Martha's Vineyard and the Yacht Club is more like Nantucket.

Wow. Ill be there Aug. 12th and the 13th for my birthday. My gf Jen and I will be celebrating my last birthday at WDW for a few years (have had it there since 1994) as I will be moving away in June next year. Im gonna miss living so close to magic!

Great choice in resorts. You could not have gone wrong. The price is expensive but hell..why not? Its called vacation for a reason. If discounts do come out, ill make sure to let you know as I will be taking full advantage of them.

Beach Club has babysitting center on site as well as a Marketplace for food and snacks.Yacht does not.Beach Club is more laid back and I agree the Yacht is more upscale.I did not think it was so child friendly when I first stayed there as the Beach was.Yacht also seems to have alot of "business people" stay when in town for work etc.VERY NICE though.Beach also has cape may and the both share the main pool and Yachtsman is in between. The walk to Epcot was 5 minutes from room 1536 at the Beach and we had our own pool right out the door!

It seemed to me when we stayed there that the Yacht club lobby was always less congested.

Our family just got back from a 1+ week stay at the YC; pretty much what others have posted regarding the differences/similarities between BC and YC are indeed accurate. To summarize somewhat, as to some of the advantages each hotel can offer:

It is a relatively shorter walk to Epcot from BC (if you choose to do so), but a shorter walk from YC to the ferry dock. Speaking of the ferry--unless you time it just right so that the ferry is already waiting when you get to the dock, it takes less time for a BC guest (in fairly good health) to walk to Epcot than it would for a YC guest to walk to the dock and take the ferry to Epcot.

Also--even though the Sandcastle Club (child-care service) is located inside the BC, it is available to both BC and YC resort guests. Speaking of the Sandcastle Club--it is open to children ages 4-10 (I can't remember about the upper end of the age cutoff but am definitely sure about the lower end), $11/hour per child w/ a 2-hour minimum charge, dinner served 6-8 pm and is included (if you drop your child off during those hours), closes at midnight, 1-hour charge penalty if reservation is cancelled less than 24 hours advance notice.

BC does have the Cape May Cafe Character Breakfast--not that other WDW resort guests can't partake in such, but at least BC guests won't need to walk too far.

Thanks for all the input. But I decided to change our reservation to the Carribbean Beach. I got a rate of $94/night through WDW and even though I could have gotten the Yacht Club for about $250, the $150/night difference over 3 nights will almost pay for the renewal of our FL resident seasonal passes.

    Maybe next time
