Fulton Burley, an Irish tenor who for 24 years starred in the Golden Horseshoe Revue that was one of Disneyland's original attractions, died of heart failure May 7 at an assisted living facility in Carlsbad, the Walt Disney Co. announced. He was 84.

In 1962, Burley first appeared in the vaudeville-style musical comedy revue that had opened along with Disneyland in 1955. By the time the show ended its run in 1986, the Guinness Book of World Records had recognized the revue for giving the most performances — more than 45,000 — in the history of theater.

I worked with Fulton Burley in the Golden Horseshoe Revue at Disneyland from 1983 -1986 and a in a production of Sugar Babies in late 1986 to early 1987. Fulton Burley was a master entertainer and one of the funniest persons I've ever met. As a comedian, he was an inspiration and even today there is still a little Fulton Burley in my mannerism on stage.

You know when someone greets you with "how are you doing"
and the usual response is "fine, good or keeping busy.
Not Fulton, he would always respond with "SENSATIONAL"

This is bittersweet. It's sad to lose a Disney legend, but he lived a long and good life and passed away at a ripe old age.

When the "Golden Horseshoe Revue" was part of the Frontierland live entertainment, my family and I would make it a point to see the show each time we went on a DL vacation.

Fulton Burley and Wally Boag were two reasons the show was such a long-running success.

I know it's silly, but I feel a little bit like I knew him just because my good friend's dad was a partner of Fulton Burley and fellow Disney Legend. I've loved hearing the fascinating tales he's told me about the "glory days" of The Golden Horseshoe Revue and remember fondly watching GHR with my parents when I was a kid. My friend also has some outrageously funny stories about his own escapades as a Disney employee and intriguing "insider" bits from the past.
