Have you ordered your personalized WDW maps? [merged]
Just a note to some fellow newbies out there to let you know about the cool free maps that are available on the Official Walt Disney World site. I ordered mine, and it only took a couple weeks. They are a great planning tool, especially if you go to WDW infrequently. My kids love looking at them, and planning, and picking their favorite rides. It's great to plan ahead, so you can see what attractions are where so you are not constantly criss-crossing and backtracking...or leaving your planning until you get to the park entrance that day.
The maps are great. I got mine in the mail about a month ago. They look sort of like treasure maps. I know the parks well I think I'm going to frame mine.
can you help me ---- I've been all over the site, the Travel and the For You areas (as well as using the Search feature!) and I can't find the maps!

When you are on the main page, scroll down toward the bottom, and you will see three boxes. The box on the left is "Plan and Prepare", click on the option "order customized maps". It "walks you through" the process on all 4 parks. I just chose everything, because I wanted the map to show everything, not just my favorites.
Tisha- good luck finding them! I think you can re-order in 6 months, if your trip is far enough away....of course you can get them at the parks too...but this is so much funner!
I tried doing the maps thing when we first started the planning, found out that the feature is not available to Canadians. We can make the maps on the computer and print them. but we can't get Disney to ship them.
If you're going on your honeymoon/taking kids who may have a different last name than yours/other something with last names, make sure the person with the "prevailing" last name orders the maps. I didn't order maps for the "K__" Family, I ordered them for the "J__" Family. And what if I'm not a family to begin with? Did you think of that, Disney? They just pulled my last name and assumed that it was my family that was going... kinda irked me.
Another thing with the "custom" feature.... the items you think you're choosing NOT to include still come up on the map, just under a different listing. I know there were some things that I had removed specifically beacuse I knew the girls woudln't be interested in them, or there was some reason why I didn't want to highlight them (Like, say the HAUNTED MANSION which will be CLOSED!!!)
They're free, no harm in ordering them. But don't set your expectations too high. Because they're free.
I had never heard of this. I've just ordered my maps. It will be a neat thing to have for my scrapbook. does anyone know if Disneyland does this as well?

I just got an email saying my maps are being mailed today. I can't wait to see what they look like.

I can not wait to see mine....I kept running into website errors....like I would go to order and then it would say "please return later "...so finally I was frustrated after this happening for two weeks and I emailed Disney....a cast member just sent me an email saying she was able to get mine ordered for me. THANK GOODNESS....so I can't wait to see ours.
I like the lamination idea...that is a good one!!
Maybe my issue was dial up...I don't know. Where we live, we do not have high speed internet...only dial up.
We were so pleased with ours, that we actually framed them. I know, you're all thinking, "hmmm, how do you frame maps with 2 different parks on each side?
Well, you see, you're "supposed" to get one set every 6 months....But...
If you have nice next door neighbors that aren't into disney at all, you can always check with them and have a set sent to "P___ family" at their address. Now you have two sets. Don't hate me 'cause I'm evil lol

Nah, I always have "Please return later" responses when I'm on the Disney.com site. I must just hit it at the wrong time. It's sometimes very frustrating!
