Flying Fish or Yachtsman? International Gateway Transport?

We are going in June and will be on the Premium Plan.

We have a day planned at Epcot and due to Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki being closed (announced after we made our PS) we are looking at some other choices. I want to visit Flying Fish or Yachtsman because I have never been to either and since we are on the Premium plan only use one dining credit. My friend is concerned the distance or trouble to get to these places from the International Gateway is too great and wants to just go to San Angel Inn.

Where is the closest place to rent the multi-person bike from the International Gateway? (we also get free bike rental on the premium plan). Or how long is the boat ride to either resort?

-- From right in front of the Flying Fish.

-- No, seriously, that is one place, but it may also be possible just outside the Gateway, or in front of the Yacht Club (don't remember.)

Even though the bike is free, they will probably delay you with a bunch of paperwork to the extent it isn't worth it. Who knows, might be worth a try. It would be an interesting way to do it, if they'll let you drop off at FF.

(It could definitely be fun for a spin around the area after dinner.)

The Yacht Club is closer than FF, just walk from the Gateway to the Beach Club and the Yacht is only a little further. I can't imagine the boat being faster.

Flying Fish is a bit of a hike -- you may be able to see it from in front of Yacht Club, across the water. It's towards the middle of the Boardwalk. Now here, the boat may be worthwhile, to rest your feet. However, it'll probably take the same 15 mins or so as walking.

Don't know about the credits on the plan you're on.

Both restaurants are generally highly recommended, and the whole area is very pretty at night.

    Edited to add:
From MousePlanet's info page on Yacht Club, it appears they do have bike and surrey rentals.

To either, it will be faster to walk then to take the boat, unless you have perfect timing and are going to Flying Fish. Even with perfect timing, it'll be faster to walk to Yachtsman.

If it's not a time, but a distance thing, neither is that far from the boat dock at the respective resort, but Flying Fish is a bit closer to the Boardwalk dock, I believe - and I'm pretty sure the dock itself is shorter (that Beach/Yacht dock seems REALLLLLLLLY long, relatively speaking). (Plus you can SEE Flying Fish from the boat - Yachtsman is inside the Yacht Club with no huge neon sign on it like Flying Fish has)

I'm not sure either is much farther than the International Gateway than the Mexico Pavillion. Maybe closer to Italy distance - but it really isn't that far. I think the only time I took the boat from Boardwalk was when the boat was starting to load as I approached the dock, otherwise I just walked it from Epcot.

San Angelo Inn is further than either The Yachtsman or FF which are about the same distance, timewise.

I don't know if this makes any difference but FF is one of the best restaurants in WDW, IMO.

Aren't they doing work inside the Mexico pavilion?

The surry bikes won't be an option. They are rented from the Boardwalk just past Flying Fish.

To get to the Yacht Club, exit the International Gateway, go over the slight hill (or, you can go on the more level walkway), continue straight and past the Beach Club. The Yacht Club will be next.

To get to Flying Fish, exit the International Gateway, go on the slight hill (can't use the level walkway) and turn left. You'll go past a gazebo on the right, on the left will be the ESPN Club, the bakery, the Spoodles takeout window, Spoodles, the candy/ice cream place, and then the Flying Fish (can you tell we do this walk often?). The boat dock will be right there.

Neither one is a bad walk but we do it all the time. I'd say 10-15 minutes maximum. The boat will take the most time unless there's one right there and you decide on Flying Fish since the boat goes there first.

I do like the idea of the "outside the park" dinner and a chance not to seem as rushed.

Is it safe to rent one of the bikes and leave it outside while at dinner?? Kind of like the stroller rental thing where you are not responsible if it's gone?

I do not think you can park and leave the bikes...Im almost positive they must not leave the Boardwalk and be "parked"...

Is the Flying Fish a chain or resturants, or only at Disney World?
They're putting in a Flying Fish in downtown Memphis and I was wondering if it was the same resturant.

The FF is a wonderful restaurant. We ate there after illuminations Christmas Eve two years ago. We walked out of the IG carrying our then 6 year old daughter who fell asleep DURING Illuminations and went straight to FF with no problem even with the crowds exiting at that time.

Remember that you're renting the bike by the hour. I don't think that they'd appreciate it sitting there unused for an hour or two while you eat. Not to mention that the bike rental location is maybe twenty paces or so from Flying Fish. And if you were to go to Yachtsman from the International Gateway, you wouldn't be able to rent a bike before you got there, either. If you really want to rent a bike, go eat dinner, then rent a bike to work the food off.
